France begins expelling Roma back to home countries
Jerusalem Post ^ | 8/19/2010

France has begun expelling approximately 700 Roma to Romania and Bulgaria on Thursday, AFP reported.

The first 79 Roma to participate in what has been termed a "voluntary return procedure" agreed to leave France on a flight headed for Bucharest later in the day. Another 132 Roma are expected to leave France for Romania this Friday.

Each adult to participate in the repatriation program is to receive 300 euros from the French government, and 100 euros for every minor that leaves the country.

““Each adult to participate in the repatriation program is to receive 300 euros from the French government, and 100 euros for every minor that leaves the country.”

Wonder if this would work with our *immigrant* problem?”

With the revolving door on our Southern Border, it would never work. They would just come back for more.

The Roma are as Indian as the Native Americans are Chinese. They are culturally unlike Indians.

You are completely wrong. I was referring to Indians from Eurasia and not American Indians. Quoting from Wikipedia: "Linguistic and genetic evidence indicates the Romanies originated from the Indian subcontinent, emigrating from India towards the northwest no earlier than the 11th century. The Romani are generally believed to have originated in central India, possibly in the modern Indian state of Rajasthan, migrating to northwest India (the Punjab region) around 250 BC. In the centuries spent here, there may have been close interaction with such established groups as the Rajputs and the Jats. Their subsequent westward migration, possibly in waves, is believed to have occurred between AD 500 and AD 1000. Contemporary populations sometimes suggested as sharing a close relationship to the Romani are the Dom people of Central Asia and the Banjara of India.[37]"

But I've seen them in their ..natural state in Eastern Europe and their music and dance and clothing continues to be strikingly similar to the Indians. Ask the gypsies too and they'll say the same thing.

I think they are referring to Cher's song, "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves..."

I was implying the verified genetic connections between American Indian natives and East Asians as a correlation between the Roma and the Indians of the north-western parts of the Sub-continent.

In both instances, although the genetic connections are documented, culturally, they are as different as chalk and cheese.

No one in India would mistake Gypsy music for traditional Indian music, and likewise with the clothing. The Roma, over the course of almost a thousand years, have absorbed traditions all the way from the Subcontinent, through Persia and Arabia, through Anatolia and Eastern Europe, and beyond, to an extent that makes their culture very different, if not totally different, from the original stock.

I speak this as someone very familiar with both cultures.

Until you’ve been to Europe and actually been around these guys...
then you realize that they mostly exist to rob and steal from you.
They teach their kids that it’s morally ok to do this....

Believe it or not...Gypsies were an obvious prescence in Wichita KS
back when I was kid in the Sixties and Seventies.
I remember seeing them filling up one of their station wagons
(loaded with about 10 of their clan) at a gas station on the south end
of Wichita.

Although working on the lower level of flim-flam, they probably should
have been prosecuted under the RICO laws.

Unfortunatly, I suspect enough of them were birthed in the USA,
so deportation would not be an option...

Won’t help. A bus ticket from Bulgaria to France or Germany costs around 60-80 Euro and they are free to move within the EU. They’ll be back withing a couple of days.

Sure it would, just like it is going to work in France. The Gypsies will take the money, enjoy the free plane ride and then come back to their regular business. Very similar to liberal gun buy back programs. The thugs get rid of old guns and buy or steal new ones.

We have those gypsy groups here, too. They winter in the Carolinas, I understand, and travel the country stealing the rest of the year. They are some times called Travelers because they keep on the move. Shoplifting is a big thing for them with finely tuned techniques. Picking pockets, stealing credit cards and IDs, and other normal crimes of theft are practiced as well.

They are Gypsy’s, and they exist only to con and steal. Oh, and they are alive and well in Dallas, Texas. I manage a restaurant here and they are infrequent, but regular guests. We go on red alert when they walk through the door. They add nothing positive to society. Oh and I know you were being sarcastic, but they aren’t just in Europe.

We get a lot of the phony driveway resurfacing crews here in central Texas.

I am also in central Texas, Cedar Park.

Years ago in Dallas we got a lot of frozen meat salesmen with that pitch. I think it was Omaha Steaks. (As I typed that I realized how near Omaha was to Obama.)

These are not their homecountries — they left the sub-continent in the 13th century or earlier.

Maybe — my point of dispute was your statement that their “homeland” is the Indian continent — it isn’t.

weeelll, that’s debatable — you mean the Roma as a people who moved in the 11th-14th centuries across from the INdian continent through Iran, Ottoman lands (both anatolia and Crimea) and into Europe? Or are you trying to connect them to Aryans?
