Ron Paul to announce for president in 2012?
Youtube ^ | August 17, 2010 | RidleyReport

Even if it's just a rumor, the flurry of activity on RonPaulForums.com surrounding it could signify that a movement is still out there waiting to be massively reborn.

Even if I did agree with Ron 100% of the time, what is going to make this campaign any different than the ones that preceded it?

There comes a point where you have to have the grace to accept that you aren’t main stream.

Not being main stream can be a plus if you’ve got the right platform. Ron has more or less shopped his platform around, and very few people are buying.

I wish he would take a pass on 2012.

To be elected at the age of 77, re-elected at the age of 81, and to hold office until he is nearly 86. He will be barely able to recognize his son by then.

I see what u mean. Dr. Paul has very dedicated and vocal supporters. I think the future of the GOP is going to lean more towards Dr. Paul’s ideas about restoring American Constitutionalism and going back to a 100% free market by ending the FED and bringing back gold and silver money. The tea party movement was started by Dr. Paul’s support base. And he has a wide range of support in New Hampshire where the Liberty Movement is taking charge.

Dr. Paul is only a year older then Mccain. What difference does age make when you have the strength to lead as Dr. Paul has shown?

So he wants to be the next Bob Dole. There will be no Bob Dole this time.

I hope he runs. I hope his supporters behave like adults who could be trusted to clean the bathroom this time.

He is an idiot. He talks big, but has never accomplished anything. He has been in congress for how long? What has he EVER accomplished, other than acquiring as many earmarks (that he says he is against) as possible?

Quite some time ago, I found Paul to be pretty solid on some issues that concerned me. For perhaps five to ten years, I would see his name pop up from time to time, and I liked what I saw.

Then I learned more about his platform. I wouldn’t personally be able to support him.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him run again. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him garner some support, but the more he garners, the better chance of Obama serving a second term.

We ABSOLUTELY MUST place a well rounded Conservative as our candidate in 2012. If we come up with another McCain, we might just as well stick a fork in this nation. It will be done...

That’s my take on it.

Take care.

I like some of his fiscal policy. I’m not a big fan of the Fed. Some of his foreign policy strikes me as unrealistic and strange.

I’d have to say that your description is more close to my actual view of him, but I’m not here to dump on the guy, deserving or otherwise.

It would seem cooler heads would prevail this time around, and avoid backing a losing proposition again. I would certainly hope so.

Keep waiting for that massive movement to be reborn.

Doesn’t a movement have to be born...in order to be reborn?

Since he thinks 911 is an inside job...I’m betting he is for the GroundZero Obma Victory Mosque.

I missed the massiveness last time, I guess.

I see your name on a lot of the threads posted about Paul. Good for you for your interest and opening discussion, but I think his followers need to be realistic about his chances, which are only slightly better than mine.

Sometimes, you can only accomplish a pure voting record.

Two more damning pics I can’t imagine. A Jew-hater and an American-hating hag. Blech.

I’m a Ron Paul supporter, but this type of post here on Free Republic does not help Ron Paul. Presumably, you want to help Ron Paul.

Stay here, watch for Ron Paul threads, comment positively about Ron Paul, defend his position.

Post Ron Paul news when Ron Paul makes news.

But skip the vanities. People here know who Ron Paul is.

If he does run, he’ll still have his passionate supporters. Those passionate supporters will give him a lot of $. Since 2008, Ron Paul supporters have been joining the Republican Party at the local level. The relevance of this is yet to be determined. A look at the Maine GOP Platform has a lot of hints of a Ron Paul influence - “Austrian Economics”, an explicit mention of Ron Paul.

It remains to be seen whether these advantages will translate into votes. What you’re saying may very well be right. If he is runs, and is smart, he could use his organization, and his money to get closer than he came in 2008. His message is closer to the tea party message than any other politician.
