Embattled Congressman Charlie Rangel came out in support of the Ground Zero mosque yesterday, saying people "should be cooperative."
Rangel said the issue is not political.
"It's so painful that Republicans and Democrats are using religion as a political tool," Rangel said. "The Constitution is clear," the pol said at a charity event in Harlem.

The libs have used “sensitivity” as a rationale for the past half-century. If a male executive tells his female assistant that her hair looks nice, he is in danger of “creating a hostile work environment” and being sued for sexual harassment.
And Charlie Rangel’s own people have been so sensitive that, every few years, they change what the other races are allowed to call them. We’ve gone from “colored” to “negro” to “African-American” to “black” to “people of color” in just my lifetime. And don’t even think about what happens if a word (and it’s just a word, however hateful) that rhymes with “bigger” is ever used. They tried to shut down the Tea Party because a congressman who has plenty of melanin claimed that someone at a rally used a racial epithet.
But, God forbid if the relatives, friends, and co-workers of 3000 innocent people should feel the slightest bit sensitive about Muslims erecting a victory mosque adjacent to the site of their “*greatest victory” over this country. Then, the libs become strict constitutionalists, and sensitivities be damned.
*greatest victory—What kind of brave warriors are these Islamofascists, when their “greatest victory” is the murder of 3000 innocent bond brokers, janitors, and food service employees?
Here’s a teachable moment. It is not religious issue, it is basic human sensitivities. What if some building owner got permission to erect a perpetual flame burning cross next to the White Crib to celebrate the early career of Sen Byrd. Do the groundbreaking on MLK’s birthday, or on Feb 1st to kick off Black History Month. Say it was funded by the Aryan Brotherhood in their effort to demonstrate unity with “all of America”. Would anyone have a problem with that? Could they legally do it? Maybe. Would it be “acceptable”....no. Could those in opposition speak freely of their concerns? I would hope so.
They'd better have good insurance if they do.
Maybe just guaranteed votes. Good as money to Charlie!
Rangel is correct. This is a local matter. As long as Congress and the State does not violate the 1st Amendment, there is nothing the Fed can do.
Its not Congress prohibiting the building of the mosque but the will of the people. Somehow Govt.of,by and for the people doesn’t count anymore.
Chollie! Who will build it?
Take this blanket. Sentence will be pronounced tomorrow at sunrise.
May God have mercy on you. Because we won't.
As I’ve posted before I believe it’s NOT a religion, but actually a Totalitarian Political Ideology complete with its own military under the guise of a religion.
Shoot to kill IMO.
But what about the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? Another local issue?
Manhattan Mosque Debate Renews Concern Over Stalled Sept. 11 Trial
The trial of KSM is related to terrorism which is a Federal crime. Good night.
DON'T TREAD ON ME!
Brillant summarization. I’m adopting your more concise language.
"Congress shall make no law..." and they think that somehow that restricts how cities and states deal with religion.
On the other hand, the 2nd Amendment reads:
"...shall not be infringed" without limiting who shouldn't do the infringing and these same folks think that means that cities and states have the right to infringe the possession of firearms.
Rangle would have no issue with a bar named; The Slaves Respite next to NAACP Office.
I can’t wait to see Rangel go to jail. He is one of the most repulsive politicians in America; an unrepentant thief and as arrogant as any corrupt politician can be.
Does Charlie Rangel really have anything in common with his fellow New Yorkers? With his fellow Americans? This mosque is insulting and offensive to most of us. How about becoming a human being, Charlie?
Charlie thinks the Constitution allows for elites to get special treatment. Sorry Charlie...
Charlie has just made a really big mstake. America Muslims do not want this mosque.
Yet New Yorkers don't want it. THAT makes it local. Sleep well.
