Few Americans consider themselves bigger than the presidency but Obama might be one of them. The man in the Oval Office, argues Toby Harnden, may already be preparing for a role as a post-president in a post-American world.
When David Plouffe, President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign manager, wrote recently that his former boss was "not concerned with his re-election", there was predictable scepticism.
After all, it has long been a truism that every politician wants to cling to power and a reality that presidential campaigns are planned years in advance. Pronouncements about not looking at polls and concentrating on getting things done are, moreover, standard fare from poll-driven, election-obsessed politicians and their apparatchiks.
In this case, however, Plouffe may inadvertently be onto something. Almost everything Obama does these days suggests that he doesn't care much about being re-elected. Strange as it might seem, perhaps he wants to be a one-term president.

Yeah right.

Search is you friend. This exact story was posted three different times yesterday.
Well the birthers seem to think that the ground work is being laid for him to bow out so to speak. SO he won’t have to face the birth certificate issue all over again, or a state that has passed a law requiring supporting documentation of a long form BC to get on the ballot.
Remember all it would take is just one state denying him a spot on the ballot.
Maybe he DOESN’T Care....Becuase he figures in 2012 he will have created enough chaos and become so powerfull that he can steal the election.....Or he believes his own press and thinks he IS the Chosen One..and he will be re-emaculated...
...too much the stench of all those “eggs” laid by the obamanistas...including the golfing incident....(see tag line)
The "search function" (If you can even call it that...) here at FR is about as useful as tits on a boar hog... right up there with the edit post function.

.....anyway....its good stuff that needs repeating....
If Republicans win the House and Senate, it will be much easier for him to win reelection.

Response: This question assumes there will be elections in 2012.
Today Neil Cavuto (FNC) said in My view that Obama got so much rammed through congress that he has little reason to run for re-election and risk a loss; not to mention be around when it really blows up (my addition). He can go out being successful, in a way.
I find this a bit hard to believe right now. But you never know.
Does it matter really? Look how many people found this one. So it was posted 4 times. Must be a pretty significant story. I wouldn't have searched and found the other three, I just stumbled on this one because it was recent. No harm done, unless you can think of one.
