The Political Expendables A baker’s dozen of potential upsets in this fall’s House matchups.

By some counts, the GOP has a shot at 103 currently Democratic seats in the U.S. House of Representatives this year.

You have probably marveled at Florida GOP House candidate Allen West’s speeches on YouTube. You’ve been amused to learn about the offbeat biography of Sean Duffy — MTV reality-show star, world-champion lumberjack, and a successful district attorney. You’ve chuckled at the thought of Jon Runyan plowing through New Jersey Democrat John Adler the way he used to plow through defensive lineman. And when North Carolina’s Bob Etheridge attacked that kid who asked him whether he supports the Obama agenda, you probably noticed how Renee Ellmers answers questions in a pleasant, informative, and non-strangulating manner.

But with so many promising Republican challengers this year, a bunch of potential upsets are flying well under the radar. And with the political environment going from bad to worse for Democrats, it is increasingly likely the night of November 2 will include some winners that almost no one saw coming. If you’re searching for some of these long shots who are looking shorter these days, here is a dirty baker’s dozen of GOP challengers to keep an eye on. They’re underfunded, unrecognized, rarely mentioned, and given no chance . . . and they may just win anyway.

What say we help some of these challengers to go rat hunting, eh?

Fingers crossed for Allen West. He’s very American, very intelligent and deserves to be elected.

everytime ZerO opens his mouth, the rats lose one more seat.
i heard a guy on dennis miller’s show saying
dingell has a shot at losing, if this is true the number will be greater than 65.

I’m optimistic that most people have not forgotten a day or two last year, when we thought there was a coup, as they totally ignored us. It was a scary time and gave me a glimpse into what it would be like to live in a dictatorship. I know I’ll never forget it.

If the Republicans get control of Congress, this time they had best make a difference. If they resume control and don’t fix the mess out there, if they go back to their old ways, it’s not long before we as a country are in the tank.

These are very serious times.

Fingers crossed for Allen West.

He better be up to a whole lot more than just winning an election.

Agree.

If the new conservative House majority does not immediately go after National Socialist Healthcare, Cap & Tax, radical czars, Holder, Pelosi, corrupt rats, Fudge Vaughn Walker, etc, the day after the election, the rat media complex will once again frame the debate and kill any chance of undoing the damage.

If the new members get boxed into discussing “GOP obstructionism, meanness, racism, extreme right wingers,” it will be over. Kiss off what is left of our pathetic republic.

On the bright side, I recall a recent thread that described Rep Darrell Issa’s growing stack of subpeonas ready for the various thugs appointed by Imam Obama.

given no chance .

Isn’t that a wonderful line? They are given no chance!

Gee, thanks Republican national committee, for doing your job. I sure am glad that you contact me all the time begging for more money — is there any point in giving you more money?

I hope that the GOP will put victory to productive use. Their track record hasn’t been very good, but it’s what we have to work with for the time being.

Give it a rest. I am a volunteer for a GOP Congressional campaign against a so-called ‘safe’ candidate - but the RNC has been very helpful time, money and resources to the campaign in hopes of making it a competitive race.

Their track record hasn’t been very good,

Depends on what your standard is that you are comparing them to.

If you want perfection, then no they weren't very good.

If you compare them to the alternative, they have a pretty awesome track record.

If people cannot see the difference between $160 billion Fed deficit for an entire year and a $164 billion Fed deficit for the month of July 2010 alone, then the Republic is finished already.

Defecit,Spending

I’m not sure many of the are conservative or if they are they do not have the gumption to actually go through with it.

All the main stream media needs to do is shout “boo” and the GOP runs for the hills.

My hope for the republic is that the new conservatives in the House will have the gumption to take the fight to the enemy, the most destructive party in American history, the modern democrat party.

As you relate, if history is prologue, our country is screwed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 24th, 2010

Businessman Scott Tipton holds strong lead over incumbent Congressman John Salazar in poll

Tipton holds a 6% lead; nearly 50% view Salazar unfavorably

Grand Junction, CO --

The Tipton for Congress campaign today released results of a telephone survey that demonstrates Republican businessman Scott Tipton leads Democrat Congressman John Salazar 49% to 43% in the 3rd Congressional District race.

The survey, conducted August 17th, also showed 46% of respondents have an unfavorable opinion about Congressman Salazar and 46% disapprove of the job Salazar is doing in Congress.

“We are extremely pleased with this validation that we quite frankly already knew which is that voters know John Salazar and they know they want a change” said Tipton spokesman Sean Walsh. “Scott’s positive message of lowering taxes, creating jobs, shrinking government and reducing federal spending has been resonating with the hard working people in every corner of this District,” he added.

The poll by Magellan Strategies surveyed 973 likely general election voters in the 3rd Congressional district. The survey’s margin of error of 3.14%. For complete poll results go to: http://votetipton.com/poll

Scott Tipton is a 30-year Colorado small business owner who has a proven track record of creating private sector jobs, balancing a real budget and making tough choices – responsibilities the Democrat-controlled Congress has failed to uphold.

With the GOP we get socialism at 55 mph. With the Democrats we’re getting socialism at mach 2.

I dislike socialism at any speed.
