They Go or Obama Goes (even the left is starting to get it right)
The Nation ^ | Robert Sheer

Posted on 08/25/2010 4:38:24 PM PDT by Huskrrrr

Barack Obama and the Democrats he led to a stunning victory two years ago are going down hard in the face of an economic crisis that he did nothing to create but which he has failed to solve. That is somewhat unfair because the basic blame belongs to his predecessors, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, who let the bulls of Wall Street run wild in the streets where ordinary folks lived. And there was universal Republican support in Congress for the radical deregulation of the financial industry that produced this debacle.

Funny that the author FAILS to mention the role of a democratic house and senate (at various times) and their complicity in all this. ONLY pubbies and Klintoon are to blame .. oh, and Zero a bit as well.

“...There is no way that Obama can begin to seriously reverse this course without shedding the economic team led by the Clinton-era “experts” like Summers and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner who got us into this mess in the first place. They are spooked by one overwhelmingly crippling idea—don’t rattle the financial titans whom we must rely on for investment. But when it comes to keeping people in their homes, it is precisely the big banks that must be rattled into doing the right thing....”

Republican support in Congress for the radical deregulation of the financial industry that produced this debacle.

Note to “Nation”, it couldn’t have been done without
democrat support.

Stopped reading. I'm sick of these analysts getting it wrong

He did nothing to create?

Good Lord.

How were those housing figures this morning, staff at the Nation?

Name one thing Obama has done to cause businesses to hire more workers.

We can name a number of things he has done to prevent them from doing so.

The Republicans in Congress don’t have the power to stop a one float parade. It’s the Democrats who are totally responsible for mess we’re in.

While Obama continued the Bush practice of showering the banks with bailout money, he did not demand a moratorium on foreclosures or call for increasing the power of bankruptcy courts to force the banks, which created the problem, to now help distressed homeowners.

IOW, Zero didn't act like the dictator he thought he voted for. I guess the seizure of GMC was just a teaser.

He did nothing to create?!!

What Radical deregulation?!!

The last regulation / deregulation in the financial services industry was one INCREASED regulation under Bush, following the Enron deal; and under Clinton, one deregulation concerning allowing banks to operate across state lines, which everyone agrees is a good thing.

Boy, these people cling to crap like roaches in a flood

$100 million in earmarks in only 2 years and BHO is not to blame for anything.

BHO is the cancer that these symptoms created.

Every politician that voted Yes on DeathCare, Stimulus fraud, and all the bailouts must be defeated. They’re self-serving, arrogant, power-hungry vermin.

Mucho blame, too, to that fat, gay fwog, Bawney Fwank and his gay lovers(s?) at Fweddie Mac who have been, under Carter’s program, pushing government-discount home ownership at the minority un-qualifieds as a civil-rights action.

Only when he wasn't too busy campaigning to be king.

I can't understand why that bunch of morons in Washington is hell bent on changing the policies that brought the country prosperity with only minor recessions from 1982 to 2008.

If they would just reform Fan and Fred and make the Bush cuts permanent we could get back on that path.

Yea, this whole Monarchy thing isn't really working out that well. We may want to consider an alternate form of government. /sarc

Funny that the author FAILS to mention the role of a democratic house and senate (at various times) and their complicity in all this.

It’s not so strange considering the fact that Robert Scheer was Editor of “Ramparts” magazine during the Vietnam War. He’s a far left propagandist and always has been.
