"The old general might still have it in him ... 145 years after Appomattox, Grant won't have to surrender this one either." -- Katie Couric, Notebook, 8-25-10
What does it take to get Katie Couric to root for a military man? Put him in a fight against the MSM's great bogeyman, Ronald Reagan.
The CBS Evening News anchor devoted her Notebook yesterday to the battle to replace Ulysses S. Grant on the $50 bill with the Gipper. And Katie left no doubt--witness her concluding lines above--that she's rooting for the man who's buried in Grant's tomb to defeat the president who made Mr. Gorbachev tear down that wall.

Couric rooting against Reagan on $50 bill. Ping to Today show list.
I think Grant should stay, if only because of his distinguished beard. Such a manly President, compared to some we could mention ...
I like Grant on the 50....
replace that Communist FDR on the Dime with Ronny....
Meanwhile, Katie Couric is quite likely to be replaced.
I can see the case for Grant. But for Katie to single out this, of all stories, for her Notebook, reflects her anti-Reagan bias, IMHO.
Too bad Newsbusters has become a TYNT Jerk.
That's where they mess with your copy/paste process and send info back to the home planet to track you.
Not a good way to treat your readers, Mark.
Even as a Tennessee boy, I would vote for Grant to replace Couric.
The would be the same Couric who anchors the lowest rated network news show in the history of broadcast television.
“145 years after Appomattox, Grant won’t have to surrender this one either.”
Huh? Grant was never in danger of having to surrender at Appomattox. Trying to be cute by spouting nonsense.
Personally I’m a big fan of Sam Grant, and wouldn’t want to see him replaced. If anything put Reagan on the 10. Grant saved the Union, Hamilton started a bank.
Let Grant go. His administration was one of the most corrupt in American history.
Yes, it’s astonishing how much the left hates President Reagan. Far more than Southerners ever disliked Grant!
LMAO Ain't that the truth..
I would place Reagan on the dollar coin. While nobody wanted to use them when they honored feminist icons, I bet they would be glad to use “the Gipper.”

I think Katie needs the probe again.
When Couric crows, few are there to hear it.
Sorry about the double post.
The current one should be on the $3 bill.
But Katie is still supporting a war-mongering culture of corruption Republican in Grant. You go, girl! ;-)
