2010 Elections: A Simple Strategy
Front Page Magazine ^ | August 26, 2010 | Dick Morris

Attention GOP candidates: There is no need, this year, to load up negative ads with adjectives painting your opponents as evil big spenders in the thrall of the Washington establishment. The simple facts of your opponents’ voting records are enough to defeat them. Just the facts, ma’am.

Republican negative ad writers always delight in describing the stimulus package as bloated, wasteful, government-growing and useless. The adjectives get in the way. The polling we’ve done indicates that the simple words “stimulus package” convey all that and more.

Obama's negatives are so high that simply tying dem candidates to Obama and his policies ought to be enough for challengers, at least at this point in the election season. But if I were challenging any democrat, I wouldn't hesitate to go "negative," as Morris terms it, at the apporpriate time. Some voters need to be educated in stark terms as to what Obama's policies mean for our future.

Morris may be giving the public too much credit. Idiots in AZ voted for McCain. As long as they get their TV clicker so they can watch 200 channels of Pro Obama crap courtesy of Saudis investing in all the major networks then the Dems will survive.

The public just wants the pro-Obama ball games from the O fawning NFL, NCAA, MBL, NBA and ESPN. Sharia is coming idiots.

Look, Dick, the only strategy that you should even consider pushing forward is: Elect Republicans, and we'll do (a) repeal the Obamanation of Obamacare, defunding every aspect of it. (b) We'll axe government spending, STARTING with Congress’ spending, rolling it back to FY 2000 levels. In two years, you can judge our accomplishments, and decide if we've done a good job.

Instead, it's the same old lone wolf strategy. Why not unite as a party, and have those running for Congress also unite and act on singular issues, with accountable goallines for the public to judge their work on... Oh, right, keep forgetting, they want to spend JUST as much on their own pet projects, and if they roll back Obamacare, why, the Democrats next time around might roll back one of the Republican’s pet programs.

Newsflash, Dick, that's exactly what they did. It's like pandering to illegals, you can't do it as well as liberals can, and it just pisses off your base.

You are assuming the GOP has a brain. They are not known as the Stupid Party for nothing.

The GOP is fully capable of blowing it. Just look at McCain and the Rinocrats blowing it with Obama. That should have been a cake walk with Rev. Wright but he would not even mention it. What a bozo. I am still mad about it.

This ad is a breath of fresh air.
We need more like this across the country. It tells the truth so can't be fact-checked into oblivion, and it polls well among the much needed independent voters.

McCain will get what’s coming to him eventually. His primary opponent was known for some foibles of the past and did not connect well with those having memories of them in AZ.

So McCain gets a pass again. But when the TP conservatives lay down the law McCain will have two choices: get with the program or pull a Specter and defect to the democrats where he belongs in the first place.

I think the two words “Fire Pelosi” ought to be enough to get back the House of Representatives. That nationalizes every house race, and brings into bad odor “Blue Dog Democrat.”
