Did you ever think you would see Republicans winning Michigan by a rout?
Republican Rick Snyder holds a dominating 22 percentage point lead over Democrat Virg Bernero in the Nov. 2 election for governor, according to a new poll.
Snyder leads Bernero, 51%-29%, with 20% undecided, according to the poll by EPIC/MRA released exclusively to the Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-Channel 7.
Snyder’s appeal is especially strong among independent voters, who favor him 50%-15% — with 35% undecided.
There are several GOP House challengers who will appreciate the top-of-the-ticket help.

I'm not sure this guy is the ticket for that, he's a bit squishy at best.
Any of the other three R's running would have won this year because of the hatred for Jenny G and what has happened to Michigan since she became Gov.
I think any of those three would have been better than Rick.

The real key is to control redistricting. I hope this is not the type of guy who’ll end up throttling a conservative House/Senate if Michigan puts one in. I’ve seen that done before and it is demoralizing.
Local news has reported here that America’s angriest mayor Bernero has been dissed by a few who won’t join the ticket.
Clearly Snyder is not Reagan, but nonetheless the seat goes from from blue to red.
There is no chance this governership will remain blue after Granholm has peed on every tree in the state.
So we end up with a purple governor, better than than Marxist Moleface, pure socialist.

Good point. We have Detroit, Pontiac, Lansing, Highland Park, Southfield, Oak Park, etc. There isn't much to change since thinking is not the strongest attribute in those communities.
Snyder is a major RINO, I don’t think I can hold my nose and vote for him. Bernero is ultra lib and the “union” vote should come out for him.
That is a really high number.
George was a RINO (though not as horrible as his execrable son) and Milliken, his Lieutenant and successor, is a full-blown DIABLO, who took his marching orders from Coleman Young in Detroit and endorses nothing but Democrats for President (Kerry and Zero) and willfully kneecapped the Conservative Republican who was running to succeed him in favor of Jim Blanchard. Engler is the only center-right GOP Governor in MI in over a half-century.
I bet the UAW had something to do with that.
I hope this guy isn’t a big a RINO as is generally thought. Poor Michigan.
Beating up on Michigan may be the popular thing to do but its seldom based on the facts.
As someone else pointed out, the majority of our governors have been multi term republicans. We currently have 7 republican representatives in Washington and 8 democrat. 3 of those democrat seats are likely GOP pickups in November. The GOP holds a slim majority in the state senate and the democrats hold a slim majority in the state house.
In my district (7th) some 72,000 votes were cast between 3 republicans and 24,000 votes cast for the democrat incumbent. Tim Walberg won the nomination with some 42,000 votes and he’s probably one of the most fiscally and socially conservative candidates running in the country today.
On primary night there was also a special election to fill a vaccant long held democrat house seat that was taken by the republican outsider who took nearly 3 times as may votes as the democrat former county commissioner.
You should take a look at some of the other Michigan threads. The democrats may take more of a beating here than anywhere else in the country. We had two democrats resign in Oakland county this week over the the false tea party they’re trying to put on the ballot through fraud, ID theft, and forgery.
Liberals thought they were pulling a fast one by voting for liberal republican Rick Snyder but Snyder has no choice but to make a hard right turn. The tea party movement took hundreds of delegate seats for the convention and Snyder’s only hope is to make a hard right turn.
Snyder has little choice but to move right.
On that note what do you think the chances are for getting the state house back?
Haven’t heard anything on this at all. It will be especially important to control redistricting. I so want another David Bonior scenario.
I will vote for Snyder and hope for the best. We did pick up one seat in the Michigan house with the special election of Mike Shirkey. He filled the Mike Simpson seat. Randy Richardville ranks right up there with Jason Allen in my book but I will vote for him over a democrat.
