Working under heavy security in a region controlled by a brutal drug gang, authorities and diplomats began the gruesome task Thursday of identifying 72 Central and South American migrants killed just 100 miles from their destination the U.S. border.

The victims of what could be Mexico's biggest drug-gang massacre were trying to reach Texas, traversing some of Mexico's most dangerous territory. The lone survivor said the assassins identified themselves as Zetas, a drug gang that dominates parts of the northern state of Tamaulipas.

Diplomats from Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador and Honduras arrived or were en route to help identify the bodies.
"We have firmly asked the Mexican authorities to conduct an exhaustive investigation to find those responsible for this abominable event," Salvadoran Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez said.
Mexico's National Human Rights Commission sent investigators to monitor the identification process.

Where’s the outrage form the humanist left?
Where’s the outrage form the Standing Ovation for Calderon party?
I don’t see obama running with his tail between his legs to the UN. but that is what he did to the state of Arizona and its citizens for wanting to protect themselves from this crap.
72 mules
dead.
don’t mess with the Zetas
Does this make the Zetas a bunch of “racists”? Maybe the Mexican flag wavers from California should be protesting, “rallying” and waving their Mexican flags in Mexico instead of Phoenix.
Close the borders completely and we wouldn’t have to worry about this happening again.
The Cartel, the Zetas...they are quickly becoming the government of Mexico.
It would not surprise me if the Obama admin at some point recognized them and held talks.
We could destroy the Mexican hoodlums instantly by simply decriminalizing drug use. The money for the drug war would be better spent on those unfortunates that have addictive personalities.
Myself, I would be terrified to even try something like Cocain or Meth.
it is amazing to me that Mexico has guards on its southern border, not allowing illegals thru, and has drug gangs that kill them, yet we can’t put our army on OUR border.....
Nothing changes and McCain once again bought the election in AZ. This is not good for the border situation, it will only get worse.
Okay, I was wondering why they'd slaughter a bunch of 'migrants' for no reason. Now I get it.
And liberals condone this. They encourage people to do this, to risk their lives traveling on foot through some of the most dangerous places on earth--simply in the expectation that these people who survive the horrors will someday be Democrat voters.
Nothing less than obscene.
Ba-dum-bum! Thanks, I'll be here all week. And for my next joke...
“Wheres the outrage form the humanist left?
Wheres the outrage form the Standing Ovation for Calderon party?”
N/A It doesn’t FIT their narrative.
I don’t understand how you can have a 2 hour firefight with government forces then just get in you SUVs and drive away from the killing scene.
A full investigation will follow?
When word gets out of this massacre, it might put the kabash on people trying to cross over.
Probably when the shiver runs through Mexico, will do more for slowing down the influx of illegal aliens to this country than what we has been attempted here.
need to read...thanks.
So, these victims were paying thousands of dollars to enter the US illegally, and they were killed by a rival drug gang (over the one they were using to get into the US).
I’d like to say I cared more than I do, but if this news spreads, hopefully it will reduce other illegal drug runners from entry.
They'll just find another illegal activity and kill each other for market share of that activity. I think that's what is going on here - they killed the immigrants not because they were mules, but because they were a rival gang's "merchandise".
I hate stories like this, it deflects attention away from the true danger to immigrants, the Minutemen (/sarcasm)
