LOL. For which other rallys do they give crowd estimates the day before it even begins!

The Park Service needs to plan accordingly for events to allocate appropriate resources and law enforcement. They've told me for our rallies what size crowd they expect and they've usually been right. They go by things like scheduled buses, hotel reservations, Internet buzz and other things.

If they told Beck's organizers they anticipate 500,000, I would give credence to that estimate.

As someone explained earlier on the thread. The Reflecting Pool area in front of the Lincoln Memorial and the adjacent open field can hold a combined 500,000 or more according to the Park Service. They know the capacity of each permitted area for public gatherings and use that as a guide for granting permits for events.
