Put everything on Discover Card please, they jacked my rate to 29.8% when the check we mailed supposedly never made it and I am still pissed at them for doing that.

Funny how that works, huh? If THEY take 10 days to process the check after it’s arrived, THEY can say it’s late, and then THEY can jack the interest rate to anything that they can legally get away with.

Why, it’s almost as if they have created a legal ‘Loan Shark’ sort of business plan.

Tell them to cancel the card.

Chase VISA and the Cable Co tried something similar with me. Their Policies document stated I had a 25 day grace period. But, they would fail to mail the statement for up to 13 days. By the time I actually got it with additional postal delays, even if I mailed the payment immediately, the payment would be beyond the due date.

Now, I make most payments via online banking. That way, I know when it was deducted and 'sent' from my account and when the payee got it. And, I don't have to worry about 'lost in the mail' or postal delays. Online payments usually take no more than 2 business days.

Oh, I hate that ten days bullcrap. HSBC did it to me too. I’m getting rid of that one as we speak.

Can’t you pay online? Then there’d be a record of the date of transfer. If I had to mail a check, after what happened to you, I think I’d pay the extra to get them to have to sign for it on delivery.

Send in your next two payments via “Certified Mail, Return Receipt”. It costs a bit more but they have to sign for it. I did that and once they realized that I was tracking the receipt dates all the fun and games stopped.

Ditch that card and get one through a credit union.
