The Alaska Division of Elections said Thursday that it has more than 20,000 absentee and questioned ballots left to process from Tuesday's primary election. Most are expected to be Republican primary ballots that will decide the too-close-to-call race between U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Joe Miller.

[20,000 questionable/absentee seems relatively high, considering that Alaska’s total voting age population is only about 514,000.

That would be nearly 4%, assuming most did vote.]

In Florida, in the last few presidential elections we had as much absentee ballots on a percentage basis. Sometimes people use them for early voting instead of going to the election locations to vote early.

She and the RNC are pissed and puzzled.

They had already determined the winner and now the unwashed masses refuse to get with the program.

A few lawyers and some payoff money to the right people will soon remedy this anomaly.

Something smells up there and it isn't a gut pile of venison.

Every close election will be tainted if there are so many manufactured ballots to count after the polls close.

I don’t see why absentee and military votes can’t be forced to be returned by voting day, and every election settled by midnight.

Michael Steele better either get a lid on this, shut Murkowski the hell up or Steele should resign his post.

This situation is exactly why the RNC has a leader. He can either do the job or move the hell over

I don’t see why absentee and military votes can’t be forced to be returned by voting day, and every election settled by midnight.

A federal law requires that military ballots be distributed at least 45 days prior to the election. However, most (Democrat) states seem unable to meet this requirement.

Otherwise, state laws vary as to when absentee ballots must be returned. In some states, it's by election day; in others, it's by some date after the election (to allow for the vagaries of mail delivery). In every case, though, absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than election day.

Repub lawyers questioning Repub ballots; Lisa requested those guys come in. Something ain't right.

They won't be happy until they have another Dem Sen in from Alaska. The Repubs rather have a dem than a Tea Party candidate; filthy & outta control; they'll get what they deserve too from Alaskans in Nov.

Yeah right. There are 20,000 ballots that are going to be manipulated.

This is why we don’t like the current Republicans in Congress.

So, are you indicating that the DNC has NOT committed acts of voter tampering? Are you indicating that Sen. Al Franken won the election in Minnesota without any unusual voter registration issues?

Are you indicating that nothing irregular happened in Broward County during the Florida elections?

I'll hope you are informed enough to know that Sen. Al Franken won after multiple re-counts, in which for some mysterious reason, each re-count scored a couple hundred more votes for him, until after re-count #5 he pulled ahead. Ever ask yourself where these 500+ votes came from?

And I'm clueless?

Do you know how to make a dimpled chad? How about a 2 or 3 corner torn chad? I'll wager dinner at the resturant of your choice that you can't make them if you wanted to - but I can make them by the 1,000's (just like in Broward County). Unforutnely, the only way to make them in any significant quantites is to commit voter fraud.

It's easy. First take a stack of blank ballots. Second take a punch and place it on the vote of your choice. Strike the punch with a hammer - and you will make a legitmate vote for the fist dozen or two ballots. Then you will have a couple dozen ballots with 2 or 3 corners torn, and then you will have a whole slug of 'pregnant' chads.

Funny, we don't hear of pregnant chads anymore, do we? Hadn't heard of them before Broward county either.

Who do you think invented the concept of registering names from a graveyard and voting for those people - naturally the dead all voted Democratic. And I'm clueless? Dude, you need to do some reading.

No, fool. I know all about ballot fraud. I’ve been paid to oversee post election counts for over 20 years.

You stated that the DNC were going to rig this election and turn out lots of Democrat ballots to sway the final count. Except, dumb-ass, it’s a REPUBLICAN PRIMARY and DEMOCRAT BALLOTS don’t affect it.

it was reported the other day that they sent out 16,000 ballots and had rec’d 7000...so how come 16,000 has become 20,000????

Probably because Cornyn's hack RNC Lawyer arrived, may have brought the with him.

Then, pray tell - why is the RNC being involved in checking Republican ballots?

They let 20,000 people get absentee ballots in a state the size of Alaska?

In 2008, it was closer to 59,000, this time it was a little over 16,000
