At Naco port of entry, officer takes kick to face

SIERRA VISTA — A man attempting to illegally enter the United States at the Naco port of entry has been charged with assault after he kicked a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer in the face.

The incident occurred Monday at about 8 p.m. when officers at the port of entry noticed a man trying to walk into the U.S. through the outbound pedestrian lane leading into Mexico, according to a release from the federal agency.

When officers made their way towards the man, he began climbing a security fence to avoid capture. As they attempted to apprehend him, the suspect resisted, kicking one of the officers in the face.

The man was detained and transferred into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for prosecution of a charge of assault on a federal officer.

No details on the suspect’s identity were available Thursday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers’ primary mission is anti-terrorism; they screen all people, vehicles, and goods entering the United States.

ALSO IN THE NEWS …

Loaded weapons seized

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Douglas halted an illegal exportation of three loaded firearms and 277 rounds of ammunition when they stopped a Phoenix couple and searched their Mexico-bound vehicle.

About 4:30 p.m. Sunday, officers were screening travelers in the outbound lane that directs traffic from the U.S. into Mexico. Officers came in contact with a 1996 Toyota being driven by a 33-year-old man. The man was accompanied by a 24-year-old woman. Both the man and the woman were identified as United States citizens and residents of Phoenix. Officers were conducting outbound operations when they became suspicious of the vehicle that the Phoenix couple was driving. A search of the vehicle revealed two 9 mm handguns loaded with full magazines, one of them with a live round in the chamber. A 22 caliber rifle was also found wrapped in a blanket and concealed in the trunk area hidden under speaker boxes. In addition to the firearms, 277 rounds of ammunition and spare magazines were also discovered.

Officers seized all of the weapons, ammunition, magazines and the vehicle. The man was turned over to custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution. The woman was turned over to ICE for further questioning.

In addition to anti-terrorism efforts, the Customs and Border Protection mission includes carrying out traditional border-related responsibilities, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration law, protecting the nation’s food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases, and enforcing America’s trade laws.

2 rescued in separate incidents

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Casa Grande and Tucson stations rescued two people in separate incidents Tuesday. The Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine were instrumental in both rescues, officials said.

As Tucson station agents were patrolling in a remote desert area, they encountered four illegal aliens; one of the individuals collapsed and lost consciousness. Others in the group told agents the man is a diabetic and had not had his medication for two days. Agents on site requested assistance from the Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue team, but because of the area’s remoteness and rough terrain, Air and Marine air assets were required. Agents carried the subject to a suitable area where he could be airlifted and transported to a local hospital.

Agents later responded to an Air and Marine request for assistance after they found an individual lost in the west desert area and suffering from mild dehydration. The subject said he was abandoned by his smuggler.

Pot found in mini-van

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Lukeville port of entry seized more than 109 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a mini-van with an estimated street value of $93,000.

About 6:30 p.m. Monday while officers were processing travelers entering the U.S., a 25-year-old woman and her 25-year old female passenger, both U.S. citizens from Evansville, Ind., applied for entry while driving a 1999 gold Ford Windstar mini-van. The women were referred to secondary inspection. They found 101 packages of marijuana concealed in various locations inside the van.

Hey...we really are supplying the cartels with weapons. Sounds like a couple of idiots going south to shoot bunnies or deer.

Until this country starts acting like it has some pride in itself, this is the kind of disrespect we can expect.

Since we seem to be content letting a mob of nutless wonders represent us to the rest of the world, we will have no respect.

Frankly, I think that we are getting what we asked for.

I take no joy in saying this.

Been there. Thats one lonely place, even today. Ironically, during the revolution, battles were fought there with numerous stray rounds coming to the American side. People use to sit on our side and watch the fighting. Buidings on our side of the fence armored the side facing Mexico.

And there is the ruin of a barracks where the US Cavalry soldiers lived. Maybe 75 or 100 yards from the border. You see, in those days we worried the problem was spilling across the border, and sent a strong force of armed soldiers there to protect our interests.

Also over Naco, in November 1913, the first air combat in history occurred. Pistols from planes.

The place is pretty much the same size as it was then,

In the Eyes of a Ranger
The unsuspecting stranger
Had better know the truth of wrong from right

Cause the eyes of the Ranger are upon you
Anything you do he's gonna see
So when you're in Arizona look behind you
Cause that's where the Ranger’s gonna be!

“States rebel and physically resist federal force, the military is split in performing war actions against individual states, Zer0 calls for UN forces on the pretense that the states in rebellion are committing human rights violations as set forth in prior complaints. And the UN can’t wait to get in on the act.”
