Bush did everything he could to prosecute this creep. But the military tribunal idea was held up in court for years, and then there were numerous other challenges and massive opposition from the Dems, who had an unshakeable majority. He finally managed to clear the way and the trial was actually supposed to start shortly after Obama took office.
Naturally, Obama and friends delayed it again, and while the way was eventually cleared, Obama obviously feels that it has been out of the public eye for so long that he can safely just drop it.
As for the State Dept., Bush did change the appointees that he could, but the problem with State is that many of these people are career employees, not appointees, and they go from administration to administration, unchanged and unchangeable. The State Dept. was infiltrated if not overtly taken over by leftist civil servants long ago, and now that they have a radical leftist/Islamist president and administration, they are are just handing it over to the Muslims.
I’m amazed at how soon people have forgotten the bitter battles Bush fought over military tribunals, Gitmo, etc., all of which affected this guy’s trial.
I feel safer already.

Bush should have done some rat-bashing on those subjects. If he’d taken the gloves off now and then, we’d be ahead by miles. The rats certainly never miss a chance to beat the hell out of us while we stand there and take it, “turn the other cheek.” Bush passed up chance after chance after chance to set the country straight about what they’ve been up to for years.
I’d like to see some street-fighters for a change.
As for the State Dept., there are ways to force career parasites out......or at least have them assigned to Siberia where they can do no harm.
