Man whose conviction was overturned still fighting(victim of false accusation)

After Ted White Jr. was wrongfully convicted of molesting his 12-year-old stepdaughter, his parents poured everything they had into clearing their son's name. When he won his freedom after finding out that the detective who led the sex-abuse investigation was his estranged wife's secret lover, White wanted someone to pay — to pay the legal bills and to pay for what he went through during his nearly six years behind bars.

Now, more than five years after his release, he's still waiting for the Kansas City suburb of Lee's Summit to do what it once promised — pay the multimillion-dollar court judgment against former Detective Richard McKinley. The city doesn't deny signing a 2006 agreement saying it would pay any judgment against McKinley in exchange for White dropping Lee's Summit and its police chief from his civil lawsuit alleging they had violated several of his constitutional rights.

Instead, Lee's Summit Mayor Randy Rhoads says the city can't pay the $16 million judgment — upheld in July by a federal appeals court — because a local ordinance bars it from indemnifying a city employee who violates another person's constitutional rights. Meanwhile, White says, his parents are the ones who are suffering.

His father, a 71-year-old optometrist in southwest Missouri, has suffered at least two heart attacks since 1999 but can't retire. "My dad lost his retirement, but no one has ever apologized. They're saying 'We don't care about you, your family, the money you spent to defend your honor.' That's just not right," said White, who said the legal fees, including for his civil suit, totaled about $1 million. In a written statement, Rhoads accused White and his lawyers of trying to stir up public pressure on city officials to make "a decision that is not legally permitted

There’s plenty for real child abuse, smart axe. But the esteemed city of Lee’s Summit needs to pay up, nonetheless. He ought to sue the baxturd personally, too and the witch who conspired with him.

Maybe he could sue the city for fraud, since they signed an agreement that was illegal under their own ordincance.

Nowhere in the article does it even mention the CRIMINAL PROSECUTION of the Jack Booted Thug and his Mistress. They Belong in JAIL FOR LIFE, Why hasn’t the City or COunty used their Civil Asset Forfeiture Laws to seize the Assets of this Thug and his Mistress?? The Police ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS AND NEVER WILL BE.

Typically, in a situation like this, his recourse is to again go to court, and have a lien put on city buildings. This means that he is in effect the city government’s landlord, and they must pay rent to occupy those buildings. If they do not pay, they can be evicted, and he can rent or sell the buildings as he wishes. In furtherance of this, the court also issues an injunction against the city, prohibiting it from trying to get its buildings back through eminent domain.

Until “better a hundred guilty go free than one innocent person is convicted” becomes the accepted norm again, injustice like this will continue on a regular basis.

The least the city could do is pay him in installments, so they would have enough to live on. The false accusers should ante up, as well as spend six years in prison...for crimes they DID commit.

The crooked cop needs to be in prison if he isn’t.

I think the correct solution is to have the city officials, say down through the city attorney, to be held in contempt of court and jailed until such time time as they comply with the federal court's orders.

I include the city attorney since someone had to draft the city ordnance to get the city out of trouble.

Wonder how long these people would hold out once they started suffering the same fate they inflicted on this man?

You should read about the ‘recovered memory’ child abuse cases of the 1980’s. Many parents and child care workers were wrongly sent to prison. Some are still there. Even now, many divorcing parents accuse their ex spouse of child abuse because of spite or to get sole custody. That is probably what happened in this case. It is an evil that is not discussed enough, if at all, because usually the victims are white men, and in our VAWA centered universe, only women are victims.

Why the heck should Lee’s Summit pay this clown 16 million? One or two or three is more in line. We are in a depression and this idiot has to lower his expectations

This article barely touches on the facts of the case. I’ve been looking for an in-depth article I thought was posted earlier in the year, but I can’t find it. Suffice it to say, Ted White suffered a horrible miscarriage of justice, he is owed the money, and people need to be in jail for what they did to him and his family.
