Yes, enough so that he spent the next 12 hours with his handler/lawyer concocting his story. A sick piece of shit whose legacy need not be renovated, period, if you ask me.
Hey, he just hit the wrong number on his speed dial cell phone and got his lawyer by mistake...
Ooops, no cell phones or speed dial in 1970... need another excuse.../S

“If the thing had been handled properly ....” Teddy would have worn an orange jumpsuit for a very long time.

He won reelection the following year (1970) by 62%.

There used to be a web site called ytedk.com that was filled with useful information about Chappaquiddick. It disappeared 3-4 years ago. Does anyone have a link to that info, hosted elsewhere? The URL now leads to a domain squatter.
It would be a shame if it were gone forever.

"If the thing had been handled properly, the first thing they would have done is put him in a hospital. Then they would have said he was a victim of an auto accident and didn't know what he was doing and couldn't be held responsible for anything that happened really after that, which would have been a fair explanation," says author-journalist Hersh, who knew Kennedy since they were classmates at Harvard. "But instead, he felt terribly guilty about the whole thing ... tried to take responsibility and ... just confused the issue." Strange... he wasn't too confused to spend all night phoning his lawyers while Mary Jo drowned.
Fat Ted's body lies a-moulderin' in the grave, but the lies keep marching on...

So many whoppers in this article that it's hard to pick just one, but I'll go for the biggest and most disgusting:

Ted was a terrible driver. He never paid much attention to where he was going.
Senator Kennedy may have been a terrible driven and that should be all the more reason for what happened while getting oral sex PERFORMED ON HIM while driving across the bridge. My personal opinion of this creep and what happened.
FLAME AWAY....

Hey Burton Hersh, if there is a God he probably gave Mary Jo a temporary leave of absence and she should just about have a flaming Oldsmobile shoved up Teddy's ass by now.....and worst of all.... he's sober!
