Authorities Were on High Alert for Possible Hijack Attempt (allowed terrorists to board in Chicago!)

The arrests of two men in Amsterdam for questioning in a terrorism investigation comes at a time U.S. law enforcement officials have been on a heightened state of alert to a possible hijacking of U.S. carrier flights from the Middle East, according to one senior U.S. official.

As a result, air marshals were onboard a Chicago-Amsterdam flight yesterday and kept a close watch on two suspicious passengers who had triggered security alarms, but were allowed to travel for "investigative purposes," law enforcement sources told ABC News.

So has the word “victory”. Barack has said that you can’t really win a war and that we cannot declare victory in Iraq and other muslim countries. Bad for their ego I guess.

“I don’t know. I can see it making some sense, under the circumstances. They were able to make sure there was no threat in the luggage anymore. Sometimes it pays to sit and watch the target for a while to see who else they might try to contact, or what tactics they are working on, before they move in.”

I get all that, and would agree that it makes perfect sense to observe these characters to see what they are up to, if they were on the ground and not traveling at 30,000 feet with a plane full of other passengers. I guess, having dealt with lots of federal agents over the years, most of which were excellent law enforcement officers, I just do not have complete confidence anymore that someone would not screw something up that would put a plane full of passengers at risk.

“so they could make that determination) and just watch them to see what they would do and who they would call.”

They were arrested as soon as the plane arrived to Amsterdam.

So why didn’t the US authorities arrest them and not let them on the plane?!

This excuse that they were allowed on the plane “for investigative purposes” is beyond ludicrous!

Airport security should be handled by the military.

Why is it ludicrous? Not all TSA agents are inept bunglers. Once they knew that the perps were doing a dry run, observing them was the best thing to do. By the time the plane landed in Amsterdam, the FBI probably knew more about the perps than their mothers and did not need to watch them any longer.

Knife, box cutters, digital clocks, cell phones taped together. Of course it wasn’t terrorism. Not that I want it to, but if something does happen on 9/11, the dems are really toast.

Americans need to boycott the airlines for a week or so as part of a protest against airport security for refusing to profile islamics.

They need to stop playing with the lives of the innocent who board those planes. I agree with random checks, even of grandma, but it’s unbelievably stupid not also to profile.

The TSA TOOK my Grandmother’s Embroidery Scissors away!

They're such idiots. I was always taught that the deadliest weapon is between one's own ears. Which I guess is why the liberals are always so passive and peace loving. But weapons of a lethal nature are literally everywhere. A good rolled up newspaper or magazine can kill, in the proper hands. I always knew there must be a good purpose to print the New York Times.... aside from lining bird cages or housebreaking a puppy...

It’s not profiling to check every Arab/muslim passenger, it’s common sense. When the one-eyed Swedes start blowing up planes, and themselves, in the name of the Lutheran church than we should check every one-eyed Swede Lutheran who gets on a plane! Seems simple to me. What is the problem? Oh, we don’t want to hurt the muslim’s feelings? Tough crap!

Looks like all the fingernail clippers, nail files, scissors, and bottles of pepto bismol that were confiscated and all the grannys that were searched didn't do the trick. Perhaps we should start scrutinizing the profile of the people who are actually trying to kill us.

The Obama administration and the MSM thinks we are complete idiots, if they expect us to believe their spin.

Here is something from another article:

“al Murisi also missed his flight to Washington due to the gate change and was sat next to al Soofi en route to Amsterdam — which may have been a coincidence.

Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi and Hezam al Murisi ... were detained in Amsterdam after al Soofi’s luggage ... was found to contain several cell phones taped together, a knife, a box cutter and a bottle of Pepto Bismol tied to a phone.

U.S. authorities, however, do not consider the two to be terrorists and may not face charges here.”

More on the “beyond belief” front:

Terrorist Ties Doubted in Amsterdam Arrests

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/01/world/europe/01plane.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

“American law enforcement and aviation security officials said Tuesday they thought it highly unlikely that two United States residents of Yemeni descent detained in Amsterdam on Monday had any connection to terrorism”

I would be willing to bet that this "investigative purposes" bullsh!t was a lie.

More than likely there weren't any federal marshalls on the flight, only saying they were to cover their asses!

You'd have to be the worst sort of fool to not see through this act. Adding that box cutter to their long list of decoy items is a devious wink and nod to their intentions.

The list of items is individually suspicious. Collectively, it shows that they're trying to see what gets noticed, and what doesn't, out of several different tools that would be useful in hijacking or destroying an aircraft. It's no different than Cold War Russian bombers testing our airspace, trying to find vulnerabilities in our defenses.

For every dry run that we catch, others go that are not caught.

The box cutters, though, are a real and intentional insult. A dog whistle to the jihadi faithful, who dream of bringing down more symbols of American power.

Good one. I’m sure we’re moments away from hearing that line.

Early this morning it was reported on FoxNews that the FBI was claiming this really wasn’t a dry run.

If the obvious dry run didn’t bother you, the FBI declaration would absolutely scare you to death.
