President Obama calls former President George W. Bush ahead of iraq speech
NY Post ^ | 8-31-10

President Barack Obama called former President George W. Bush Tuesday hours before he was set to deliver an Oval Office speech on the drawdown of U.S. troops from Iraq, the White House said.

Obama made the call aboard Air Force One on his way to Ft. Bliss, Tex., where he will visit U.S. troops.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton said the “private” call lasted “a few minutes,” but declined to give further detail.

Obama telephoned Bush in February 2009 before announcing his plans for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

BRAVA, Wolfstar!

You hit him between the eyes with the TRUTH.

I too am old enough to remember Reagan, and to remember him well, with utmost respect.

And it is my opinion that the caricature of Reagan now paraded around by the angry Bush despising right is an INSULT to the warmth and reality of the man, himself. It degrades him to take away his humanity, because gods who can do no wrong cannot be given credit for being right.

We have had two outstanding Presidents in Reagan and George W. Bush, but I agree with you. President Bush had a harder row to hoe, and he did it with courage and integrity.

Both qualities his internet bashers lack.....

Oh Dolly, he just said that Bush cared about the troops or something insipid like that, and then moved on.

He's a traitor and an imbecile, as well as being a Marxist punk.

(I didn't watch it, but read through the "Live Thread".....though from what I read, Obama was dead when he gave the speech. Really bad, because he doesn't give a rip about the troops).

(((( Wolfstar )))) !!!! You tell ‘em !! And, I, proudly, stand with you in saying I respect and love President George W. Bush! I would vote for him again so we could have a President who genuinely loves America, her military, her citizens and her form of government.

Mr. Obama and his followers cannot take any criticism but they forget the hateful comments they made about President Bush.

‘.. his words are carefully measured and intentionally obscure..’

agree...always. imho, EVERYTHING this man does is intentional. I, too, thought his comment ‘however long I remain President’ was curious. again, imho, seems like Mr. Obama is doubtful he will be re-elected so he will now do everything in his power to implement his policies to change America’s form of government. Think that’s why he and the First Lady are partying big time.... while they’re in the White House.

WOW! Another fine post! You sure are on a roll tonight. ;*)

In one way, GWB was truly greater and more courageous than RWR. When the Marine barracks were bombed, Reagan turned tail and ran from Lebanon. GWB never turned tail, but instead took the fight to our enemies in radical Islam.

Exactly!!!

Another way President Bush was greater was economically. He NEVER raised taxes and tried desperately to allow us to make our own choices in regards to retirement by campaigning for personal retirement savings accounts where OUR money could be willed to our heirs instead of disappearing into the black hole we call government.

You are most welcome. It was my pleasure to bring a little class back to these threads. ;*)

I still have my "Thank You President Bush" sticker on my car that ohioWfan gave me almost a year ago.

I'm ready to be home in Texas in a few months and readjust to the good life...

Ha! I seem to remember you saying that more than a couple of times in the past few years. ;*)

Hope you are serious this time. Looks like we will need you home more than they need you over there. Praying our Iraqi friends are ready and able to secure their country. All best to y'all as the party winds down.

Insipid is a perfect word, ohio. He said the very least he could say about GWB and get away with it from what I can tell—I didn’t watch either. The FNC homepage says he “saluted” GWB-—that isn’t even true. He basically said that GWB supported the troops, as you said. Ridiculous-—but certainly not surprising. He makes me sick.
