Glenn Beck's Happy Warriors
Wall Street Journal ^ | James Freeman

Pundits will debate whether the crowd at Glenn Beck's Saturday rally in Washington was the largest in recent political history, but it was certainly among the most impressive.

Mr. Beck is a television host and radio broadcaster with a checkered past and a penchant for incendiary remarks. But if he's judged by the quality of people of all colors that he attracted to the Lincoln Memorial, his stock can't help but rise.

One would not be able to find a more polite crowd at a political convention, certainly not at a professional sporting event, probably not even at an opera. In fact, judging by the behavior of the attendees following the event, you'd have a tough time finding churches in which people display more patience as others make their way to the exits.

The people who attended the rally ARE America. Good people who pay their taxes, obey the law, and don't ask for a handout.

All that and when they left the Rally grounds they left the grounds free of trash unlike the ‘O’ crowds at inauguration day.

REALLY? Last I heard they all belonged to the KKK; all bomb-throwing, Bible-thumping, illiterate, homophobes.

Save your energy for the real fight, getting Congress to actually move conservative after the election.

Politeness is like our “trademark”. Trashing has been done to death. It is THEIR trademark, and frankly, it’s “trashy”.

The 'Restoring Honor rally was definitely inspirational for the millions of Americans that are decent, moral, hardworking (when they can find a job in the Obama economy), patriotic and disgusted with the our 'leaders' in Washington, abusing the people's trust by ramming unwanted laws down our throat and calling anyone who dares question the Obama administration's socialist, job-killing policies everything from 'stupid' to 'haters' to 'racists'. Just like most FReepers, including this one, they're sick of it - and the arrogant politicians that are destroying the moral, social and economic underpinnings of the great country. A country that has been a beacon of hope around the world for centuries. The country our current president feels obliged to apologize for, to the amazement of most Americans.

I think Sarah Palin struck the right note when, in her brief, non-political speech, she intoned: "Look around you. You are not alone!" That, the overall tone of the rally and the huge turnout all combine to act as an encouragement and motivation for the 'average' American to do whatever they can to oppose the left in this country and the road to mediocrity they are attempting to take our great nation.

I fully expect another huge turnout by Americans - on election day, November 2nd - and with it, a sweeping out of the career politicians on both the left and right. Oh, we'll never get rid of all of them. There will always be a few leftists and RINOs around (John McCain, Scott Brown, Lindsey Graham, et al.) but if the voters can elect enough conservatives and instill the fear of an aroused populace into our 'representatives' that will thwart liberal schemes and the usual congressional shenanigans, we may have a real chance to actually begin to restore honor to our government - but the people must lead the way. I trust that they will.

Wow, I was wrong when we were predicting on an earlier thread that the media would fail to mention how neat the grounds were left.

Well, the WSJ is probably one of the few semi-objective papers out there. But the rest of the LSM deliberately ignored the neat grounds because they would have to tell people something positive about conservatives.

Why the petty ego divisions among our conservative talk show leaders ?
I admit I’m not a big Hannity fan, but he serves his purpose and has his audience. He just isn’t interesting to listen to for long. ( too much self-promotion and drivel )

I’m asking if Hannity addressed the Beck rally on his radio show? He started off talking about death threats to him
( all about him of course ).

I’m thinking Hannity does not like Beck because Hannity is a total republican and Beck goes after both parties.
I still think ( if he didn’t acknowledge Beck’s incredible gathering ) that it is very petty on his part and does not reflect well on him.

I know Mark Belling ( Rush’s sub host ) mentioned the Beck rally - but I haven’t seen anything about it on Rush’s website either. Probably same for Levin and Savage.
Our conservative leaders can’t be having such tender little egos. Get over yourselves.
We got to win this thing in November.

I was reading comments over at Wretchard's "Belmont Club" about the Beck rally, and one incident in particular caught my eye.

The attendee writing about the incident was talking about how, when the event was over, EVERYONE started picking up their trash. The witness noted other attendees who had BROUGHT THEIR OWN trash bags to do so, and he noted several who were handing out extra trash bags to folks who had either forgotten, or didn't have enough.

With this level of attention to detail by the "run of the mill" Tea Party member, the Democrats should be VERY afraid.

These are NOT stupid people, folks.

I listened to Hannity yesterday and I think I remembered hearing him talk about Beck’s rally. I can’t be sure since I drove all day and listened to Beck, then Rush, then Hannity, and then Levin.

We heard most of Mark Levin's show last night on the way home from Glenn's rally in DC. Levin did indeed tell a caller that he thought Beck's rally was great... a "good thing".

Thanks for responses from those listening to some of the talk show guys.
I just think Beck’s inspirational rally calls for more than just a response from a caller.

They should personally address the event and devote some time to it like Mark Belling did and Savage (another guy I can only listen to for about 20 minutes ).

The Mall Gathering was historic but now it’s up to us, and our TV and radio illuminaries can’t just act like it never happened or give it passing recognition.

What did Savage have to say about Beck’s rally?

I didn’t hear Savage’s show about Beck. I learned from another Freeper that Savage spent time on the subject.

Luvbach1 on today’s (8/31/10) Sean Hannity Show Freeper/blog replied to me :

“Even the conservative maverick (excuse the expression) Mike Savage spent a good portion of his Monday show discussing the Beck rally, although assiduously avoiding mention of Beck’s name.”

Pretty tricky to discuss the rally and pretend Beck wasn’t the main event ~LOL~
