US Mideast envoy George Mitchell on Tuesday night stressed the US belief in the possibility of the sides reaching an agreement within a year, in a briefing for reporters held before the West Bank attack which left four Israelis dead.
He also began to sketch out the American perspective of how talks would proceed, embracing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that he meet personally with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas every two weeks.

I love these artificial time lines than can't be met - especially with Palestinians who don't want peace at all but drag out the talks until military victory (killing all Jews) is achieved.
You've got to wonder why Statesmen like Mitchell repeat the same basic assumptions time after time...as if their job depended on it.
Bottom line: There can be no artificially time squeeze, Western style on parties that are not ready or willing to bridge the gaps. The Israelis want security first, the Palis want Israel to surrender, first.

If Israel agrees to abandon all of it’s infrastructure, and move to another part of the world, there will be peace within a year.
So it is in theory possible that Mitchell could be right...
