There has been a lot of political talk that 2010 might resemble 1994, or the reverse of 2006-2008, or maybe 1982, when unemployment was over 10 percent for 10 months and Ronald Reagan lost 26 House seats.
In the summer and fall of 1980, I was in Idaho, helping manage Frank Churchs re-election bid, and we had been watching the tsunami building all year long. We ran the toughest campaign possible, lost by just 4,000 votes, but knew there was a large group of endangered species out there as we called ourselves: Church, McGovern, Culver, Bayh, Nelson, Stewart, Magnuson, et al. The shock wasnt that individual Democrats were in danger but just how many there were and that the Senate could actually switch to a Republican majority. Democrats lost 12 seats that year and there were 18 new senators in January of 1981.
The record for new senators after an election is 20. Right now, with Lisa Murkowskis loss, that number is already going to be at least 15, with three incumbents defeated and another dozen retiring.

Yea. From the party of Al Franken, this is rich.
And no matter how the dems will scream "extremist", Americans will still see the Empire and their death star operating a few blocks down Pennsylvania avenue. Obama is not Reagan and he is not Clinton. Reagan was Reagan, and Clinton, for all his shortcomings, was capable of learning lessons and setting left wing dogma aside for survival. Obama isn't capable of much of anything.
Bill Clinton survived for awhile, with a Republican controlled Congress. A lot will depend upon how much control the next Congress will have. How conservative will the next Congress be? Will the next Congress have the power to override any to all vetoes that Obama will create? In the next Congress, how many RINOS side more with Republicans than with Democrats on most to all issues? In the next Congress, how many non-leftist Democrats will side more with Republicans than with Democrats on most to all issues? Exactly, what does Obama do with his remaining first term of office?
Anything that goes well: Obama’s doing.
Anything that goes wrong: Those Republicans in Congress.
A once great mag.
Not this time. We don’t stop until the country is taken back.
Sad but true — that’s what BO is hoping for. THat’s what Clinton did. I think it’s QUITE likely.
Nope, in 94, Clinton didn’t get his healthcare law passed.
Now that the healthcare was rammed down American’s throat, America will want to repeal it, and they won’t be able to until they get him out of office.
I’m worried that inflation will rear its ugly head just in time for the Republicans to be blamed.
I suspect we will have seen the full fury of soetoro´s jihad by then. God knows what kind of world it´ll be.
If history repeats itself,they will wind up shooting themselves in the foot again.
BeHO is no Clinton. Clinton is a Johnny Come Lately compared to BeHO. He was a Marxist from his toddler days. HIs Grandparents, parents, and multiple mentors schooled him exclusively in Marxism; he cannot change. Hell, he doesn’t need to.
He has accomplished what he wanted and can now move on to Sec General of the UN. The U.S. is already screwed. We will now lose in Iraq, Afganistan, and the War on Terror. We are bankrupt. We have large segments of our populace is disinfranchised... on BOTH ENDS of the spectrum. Civll war may be our destiny
The world LOVES BeHO; he is acceptable to the secular world, the Muslim world, and the Emerging Church/Catholics will be on board this time next year.
BeHO doesn’t need Congress anymore boys. He will leave America in a smoking ruin to pursue HIS Destiny.... King of the World.
That's a chance we'll just! Have! To take!
Wonderful, let’s get the first step in the bag, then we’ll see what is on the horizon!
This is a real problem. Clinton couldn’t have won a dog catcher position after his first two years, even with Perot running interference for him. After two years of Republicans fixing things, Clinton got a second term. People were happy with the status quo. ...We will need a strong candidate against Obamimam. If Republicans get to rolling with the RINOs and drinking the Potomac poison, we’ll have the dufus for two terms.
Obama should be long gone or on his way out by then.
Democratic President Harry S. Truman had several mantras: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” and, “The buck stops here.” Truman was insturmental in stopping World War II with the atom bomb, thereby saving countless American lives.
Democratic President Barack Hussein Obama has several mantras: “If you’re not with me you are a racist”; “Pass the buck the Obama administration is innocent”; and “Throw common sense out the window.”
Mr. Obama was heralded by the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Active League (NARAL) as No. 1 in leading the movement to kill babies before birth. The New Black Panther movement, whose members intimidate voters at the polls with shouts of “Kill the cracker babies,” is on Obama’s O.K. list.
Vote from your heart. Protect your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whether white, black, brown “cracker” or plaid. A child is a precious gift. And common sense is a good thing.
That’s ridiculous. He can’t energize the base, he can’t inspire new voters, and everyone I know is getting real sick of the race card being played by his most ardent supporters.
****************
I agree with you. *IF* we do take the GOP out of the Rockefeller Republicans’ hands, the pot can be kept simmering with legislation that would restore liberty and prosperity at a rate and to a degree that BO cannot tolerate in his Leninist soul. He vetos, vetos, vetos, to the increasing fury of the electorate.
Examples:
Authorize real domestic energy production (drill here, drill now);
Repeal Health Control, extent Congressional health plan to the entire populace;
Abolish the EPA, the Department of Education etc., and cut in half such monstrosities are BATF and the State Department;
Abolish public sector unions;
Defund all extra-governmental entities such as ACORN, the NEA, and all unions.
He would veto each of these. Do it monthly. Reveal him as the statist parasite that he is. He won’t win 2012, except Detroit, DC, Chicago and Philadelphia. Crushed like Carter.
first things first...but when conservatives win, it is always because they have forged a coalition.
Unless Zero repeals Zerocare (or the court throws it out) he is one term. If the court does not toss it out by 2012 expect huge gains in the Senate and complete Republican control.
