More than 65 senior insurgent commanders or bomb-makers have been "removed from the battlefield" by SAS troopers, leading to significant disruption of the insurgency.
While senior British officers are cautious at overplaying the success
The latest casualty figures for August show that the casualty rate has dropped by more than 50 per cent.
Ministry of Defence figures show that seven soldiers were killed this month compared, to 16 in July and 20 in June.
Similarly, there were 40 wounded in action in the first fortnight of July compared to 19 in the first fortnight of August.
The number of IEDs (improvised explosive devices) being laid by the Taliban in Helmand has reduced by a quarter in the last three months, which has been partly attributed to bomb-makers being killed by the special forces unit referred to as Task Force 42.
Intelligence figures passed to The Daily Telegraph show that at least 65 out of 240 senior Taliban on the "kill or capture" Joint Priority Effects List, with codenames such as Snowball, Commando Flood or Merlin, have been accounted for.

Who dares wins.
It may have to do that the more Islamic Labour Party is out of power and intel is not being leaked to Al Qeada and the Taliban.
In the USA, this is occuring because The Iman’s govt is filled with Muslim Brotherhood moles. This is why some many Americans soldiers are being killed.
To the third movement of Shostakovich’s fifth symphony no doubt.
Meanwhile as part of the UK’s reduction in defense spending, the Territorial Army SAS (the older guys) is being reduced. There goes a lot of talent and experience.
Only a quarter?
To the third movement of Shostakovichs fifth symphony no doubt.
That’s good!
Gotta love the SAS. As long as they’re on your side.
That figures. The SAS is probably the best return on money spent for the UK government. But I hear there are a lot of Pakistani families on welfare who need free houses...that must be the priority.
“...removed from the battlefield.” I like the way that sounds - it has a nice ring to it. The Brits do have a way with words!
Well in reality they actually pay their way for the most part...the islamists are not lazy...which is why they worry me so much.
It is lazy scummy teen girls who intentionally try and get pregnant (and please don’t think that is generalization it is happening on a huge scale) because they get extended benefits and a free house.
This country has fallen so badly. It upsets me greatly. The liberals have ruined it.
GOD loves the SAS.!!!
Yes the Libs/Leftists soil everything they encounter.
The other 3/4 are in Manhatten
Trying to build a Mosque, I presume.:-)
Love Shostakovich!!!
The musical liberator of the 20th century! And yes ... those legends about him putting coded anti-communist messages into some of his scores, are true. Heard it in great detail on the BBC, of all places. You would think a bunch of lefties like the BBC would suppress such knowledge, but evidently the musicologist I heard escaped such scrutiny.
“How dares wins.” ...bears repeating not only as a military motto but applicable to many areas of life in general.
