Do you see an alarming and deplorable creep of casual racism everywhere you look? I hear officials giving voice to sweeping generalisations and ridiculous characterisations that give succour and ammunition to those who are truly anti-Muslim or anti-Semitic; dangerous and indefensible views take root and spread in such carefree environments.
Today there is Karel De Gucht, the European Union trade chief, spouting this: "Don't underestimate the opinion ... of the average Jew outside of Israel. There is, indeed, a religion, I can hardly describe it differently, among most Jews that they are right. So it is not easy to have a rational discussion with a moderate Jew about what is happening in the Middle East. It is a very emotional issue."
We are still waiting for the Germans to fire Thilo Sarrazin, the Bundesbank official who talked of Jews sharing genes, and of educationally sub-standard Muslims dragging down the German way of life.
The EU sought to distance itself from Mr De Gucht, saying his views were personal. Let us be clear: that does not make it OK either for him or the EU. In fact, the EU should be directly involved in disciplining the man. Mr De Gucht also apologised for any offence implied or taken. Let us be clear on that too: it is not enough; his statements make it quite obvious how casual racism litters his mind.

Later, she told a news conference that "what needs to happen now is continued international pressure to move forward."
Yes, because that's what needs to happen now. Move forward. Hamas is still in charge and oppressing the populace in new and more misogynist ways, and the PA still refuses to sit down and talk peace with Israel. But sure, move forward. Speed for speed's sake: That's the way to do it.
Coming from the continent that spawned Communism, Socialism, and Fascism, all in one century, and then proceeded to wipe Jewry off the face of Europe, this is no surprise.
No surprise at all.

Anti-Semitism is endemic in ALL of Europe from the Hebredies to the Urals. Its resurgeance in the last few decades is do to VAST ammounts of Saudi $$$ at every turn financing it and nurturing it. Check the Departments of State in ANY western country if you might disagree.
The anti-moslem movement is grassroots-oriented and barely getting started.
The bribed Elites vs. the people—it might get bloody, and soon.
Socialism also does its work by keeping almost everyone impoverished to the point of dependency on the regime; the regimes of the west have been under the control of the left for so long that policies such as restricting economic development (in particular, energy sources; coal, hydroelectric, petroleum, and of course nuclear) that lots of money is pushed into the hands of despotates in the Moslem world.
Hey Europe, how are things working out? So far.
Two thousand plus years of anti Semitism and you have succeeded in removing most of us from your continent. And even where we are mostly gone, you still hate us.
But who will laugh last?
Those who you welcomed to replace us, who you support against Israel, will be kind. They will grant your descendants a choice....to convert or die. Your descendants will either be Allah Akbaring or cursing you with their final breath, with the knife at their throat, for what you wrought.
That old saying the winners write the history books has always been false — because it’s the other way around.
Except in the Moslem world.
They don’t have history books in the Moslem world.
Besides which, they’re all losers.
