A Colorado high school student wants an explanation from school officials after reportedly being told by security guards to remove American flags from his truck because they might make other students uncomfortable.
Jeremy Stoppel told Denver's KMGH-TV he received a ticket at Northglenn High School last Thursday for squealing his tires and subsequently had his parking lot pass suspended for two weeks. But he also was told by a campus security guard to remove two U.S. flags -- each 3-by-5 feet -- from the bed of his pickup truck.
"She said I should take my flags down. She said this is a school that focuses on diversity and she doesn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable," Stoppel told KMGH-TV. "How do you suppose anyone would feel uncomfortable in America with an American flag? That's where I'm confused."
Stoppel said he began flying the flags last week and wants to keep them for the upcoming 9/11 anniversary in honor of his cousin who is serving in the Navy. Stoppel and his father now want an apology from the security supervisor.
"To me, she's just threatening him, hoping that she can just bully him so he'll just take 'em down and just put his tail between his legs and say, 'I'm done. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry,' Dan Stoppel told the station. "And that's just not gonna happen."

Have them explain as defendants in your lawsuit
“they might make other (Mexican) students uncomfortable.”
I want the names of the students who feel uncomfortable seeing an American flag. I want them to explain why they are uncomfortable. Does the school have an Americna flag flying? Is anyone uncomfortable with that? The bottom line is that this supervisor should be fired. No second chance, no “misunderstanding.” The attitude that the American flag is some dangerous symbol is too dangerous to have in our schoolds.
I’ll repeat what I said on yesterday’s posting on this issue;
I would have politely informed her that she had the freedom to burn it and I had the freedom to fly it then walk away.
If one is uncomfortable in America, with American flags displayed, maybe one should get out of America.
Why is the security guard dictating terms that have nothing to do with any infractions that a high school student may have taken part in?
Anybody know a good Ameican attorney?
If it makes other students uncomfortable, good. Then maybe they’ll leave.
Ameican => AMERICAN!
The article says the school has no such policy, as per the principal. She said the Security Guard will be in her office on Tuesday morning. At this point if she even shows up after this becoming a national story.
The kid should have absolutely refused to take the flags down. Let them do what they feel they had to do. I am amazed that today, it is illegal to fly the American flag any place in our country.
Another over-officious jerk oversteps her bounds. If I were the student I would be organizing a fly your flag WEEK.
every morning at Northglenn High School:
I pledge allegiance / to the Flag / of the United States of Mexico / and to the Republic / for which it stands, / one nation under God, Indivisible, ...
This is what “diversity” leads to. At least she’s being honest. It’s not about diversity, it’s about anti-Americanism.
the uncomfortable students need to learn tolerance.
