Obama's Silver Lining?
American Thinker ^ | Sept 6, 2010 | Jeffrey Folks

Posted on 09/06/2010 4:47:00 AM PDT by Rashputin

Oddly enough, Obama's highly educated squad of advisors has failed to identify the chief cause of unemployment: lack of growth in the economy. In fact, the word "growth" is noticeably absent in Obama's speeches. Instead, there is a great deal in his addresses about "fairness," "subsidies," "stimulus," and "benefits." There is nothing about the sort of growth that stems from private investment based on the worthy expectation of profit. As Obama put it in one of the most sophomoric pronouncements in presidential history: "Now is not the time" for profits.

Has the President ever considered the fact that his relentless campaign against profits might have something to do with the hesitancy of businesses to invest and expand? Business is now faced with enormous tax hikes, burdensome healthcare mandates, unrealistic environmental restrictions, an explosion of legal actions on the part of trial lawyers and our own government, and increased union organizing spurred on by Obama appointments to the Labor Relations Board and other agencies. With all this, how can the President pretend that his policies have nothing to do with the failed recovery?

If anyone doubts that education in this country has become indoctrination and a deliberate shunning of reality, just read through what passes for thought among the "best and brightest" at the Soetoro court. Anyone who just watched what was happening in the country over a few years and thought about it would know more than this. Education, at least the "excellent" kind that these people are supposed to have has become nothing other than a way to teach students to ignore reality and rely on academic zealot as filters to explain it to you.

Barry may have a little chapter in his book about "the streets", but it has to be a lie. He has had no contact with reality since he could first build a fantasy world for himself in his early teens.

Actually, I think he knows FULL well that it does and I think this is all part of his horribly misguided plan.

You are correct

Growth in the economy is like victory in the war. Neither are fair to us or our enemies and must be shunned

Since the Illegal is a communist who wants to destroy
America, he definitely deserves an A+ when judged by his own standards. No one outside of a mental institution should believe this utterly evil man has anything but destruction and harm in mind for America and Americans, both of which he bitterly hates.

The problem isn't 'education' per se. It's HIGHER education. Specifically 'elite' IvyLeague 'Higher' education. And the spread of (cough) 'Liberal Arts' colleges.

All those idiots do is sit around and contemplate their navel. And the only reason they're employed is because their job is 'working' at a college-university, surrounded by other navel gazers.

Not one BA, MA, PhD could survive in the real world for a day. In two weeks they'd all be homeless winos.

I spit on all 'Arts' degrees.

I suspect the reasoning applies for savers. A lot of US citizens really are financially responsible, and have savings that they use to generate interest income. This income income means they're more willing to spend. Now, with interest rates at near 0% for so long and staying there, a lot of people are saving more and/or spending less.

Then there are people like myself. I'm working enough to stay out of my retirement savings. Every year I stay out of them and contribute to my Roth IRA adds two years to the time it will last. My job won't support McMansion living, but it would be a nice resume item for someone starting out and would pay their bills.

I'd suspect, as older baby boomers hit their mid-60s, higher interest on savings would really help get the economy moving again.

I don't think Barry has a thought of his own - except for "Marxism Is Better".

Everything he says are the the words and ideas of others. His speech-writer(s) could put in a speech, "I eat boogers", and when it came up on the teleprompter Barry would repeat it. And iirc his speech-writers are all, Ivy League, wet behind the ears, 'whippersnappers' (all under 30) :-).

And as to Barry's *alleged high IQ*, I say baloney. That's based solely on Harvard students who HAVE an actual IQ test score to back it up. And since Barry went to Harvard his 'must be the same'. That's correlation without causation(1), in English: bull feathers

Personally I'd bet the rent his IQ is below 100. Maybe just bordering 'normal', which is 90. The guy IS as dumb as a stick.

*** As the old saying goes: “Them that can, DO, and them that CAN’T, teach.” .... or....become Community Leaders. ***

Let's go with 'Community Leaders'.

Our youngest daughter is a Teacher Assistant(1) who works with Special Needs Children even though that was not her *specialty* (Special ED major?) in college, it was Reading. She has a BSEd from IL State Univ, full K-9 Certification from the State of IL (a LOT of tests to pass), and we're dam proud of her. [I wouldn't have paid for a Univ that even printed BA degrees]

I've been in commercial construction (Engineering-Project Management& Estimating) for 40 years now, and I've worked with some tough, mean, SOBs over that time that would cheat you out of a Nickel and I wouldn't want her job for anything. But she loves 'her special children'.

Ergo, IMHO that old 'teacher joke' is not appropriate any longer (now, a professor, that's another matter ;-)).

(1) She's at a local school with HIGH ratings. During the summer they asked her to interview for a 'regular' Teaching position that opened there, but lost to another ex-TA who used to work at that school. But pretty soon she will have her own Classroom.

---------------------------------

I agree with that

Obama, the king and master of nothing, kills America financially and when the economy realizes some growth again, those waiting to get rehired as managers and engineers start to find they have to work two jobs as cashiers and janitors.

These liberals are going to friggin' sing and dance along, all the way, as they dance off a cliff.

Don’t misunderestimate your opponent. It is safer to place him in the evil genius category than the simpleton.

Yes Reading, as in: TEACHING READING.

Most kids today can't read at their level. Those that do can't comprehend what they read. Find me five HS Jr's from any big city school that that can read, comprehend and appreciate the works Shakespeare. .

Julius Caesar Act 3, scene 1

And Caesar's spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war,

Back in 'my day' the guys in my English Lit class would think that was some cool 'stuff'. Today they are all functional illiterates and don't even know who Julius Caesar was.

So yes, R-E-A-D-I-N-G. (Reading is funemental)

I never 'misunderestimate' an opponent or think him a simpleton.

That would violate the tenets of Sun Tzu. And Sun Tzu hasn't been wrong in 2,500 years. (I'll take Sun Tzu over Saul Alinsky any day).

My point was that Barry's intelligence is highly overrated. But the leftists do that with all their 'leaders'. Gore, Clinton, and now Barry - all 'geniuses'.

Sadly, in big city schools, learning is considered "TOO WHITE"....until THAT changes, NOTHING will change.....GROUPS, certain groups have to change.

What your daughter teaches used to be called "Literature", so I guess "Reading" sounds less intimidating to certain groups.
