That area has been one of the most violent in LA ever since Jimmy Carter’s Marielitos washed up there in the 70’s.

Why would an LAPD officer ever, ever, respond to a hot call in Rampart when all he gets for his trouble is this?

Cops are on a killing spree all over the nation if you ask me.
No one asked you.

Cops are on a killing spree all over the nation if you ask me.

The cops blew away a drunk, knife carrying Guatemalan that was threatening with a knife in broad day light.

I suggested if these stinking foreigners don't like it, they get the hell out of dodge and head back to the stink holes from which they came from. Put me on the jury, and I'll vote to bury this POS at the local landfill.

Pretty soon, they'll probably target patriots.

Yeah, as long as they're:

1. waving a knife around threatening passerby and

2. advancing on the respondingn officers and

3. ignoring warnings in English and Spanish to "drop the knife...

Same goes for legally armed citizens. Seriously, if you're out shopping, say, and a crazy dude with a knife decides to take an interest in you, you're going to try to talk him down? Or use your Krav Maga knife takeaway technique you've practiced in the Dojo with a rubber knife? Really?

I agree. Pretty soon, they'll probably target patriots.

Cops blow away drunken Guatemalan cockroach while he was threatening people with a knife, in broad day light, and you suggest they're now coming after law abiding citizens that are minding their own business?

Where the hell you people from?

Dude, there’s no situation that the ancient secrets of the Krav Maga discipline can’t handle. Knife takeaway fails? Easy...you fall back on your other two moves, groin strikes and eye pokes.

“...leading one of the officers to fire at the suspect”

Good, that’s what you do when a knife wielding drunk advances on you.

The people attacking the cops here are hilarious. As far as I’m concerned, if you advance on someone with a knife, sober or drunk, then you just gave anyone around you permission to eliminate the threat.

I wonder how many Guatemalans were brutalized/murdered by the truly corrupt Guatemalan government/cops while our Guatemalan “immigrant” friends rioted here. Since this is obviously a hot issue with Guatemalans, it would seem like there should be at least one anti-police/gov riot per day in Guatemala. Or they’re whining, ungrateful hypocrites. Whatever. It’s definitely one or the other.

I would encourage any “community activist” to go to any major city in Latin America and stand on a busy street corner waving a knife at people. When a law enforcement officer arrives on the scene, walk toward them with your knife.

I suspect:

A. You will understand as soon as the officer draws their weapon, even if you don’t understand a word of Spanish or Portuguese, that they wish you to no longer assume a threatening attitude or posture toward them.
B. Most places you’ll get about 2 steps before the officer fires. It may take more than a double tap, cops there don’t get as much target practice as cops here do, but you’ll be going down for good.
C. Assuming you are smart enough to live and assume attitude of complete submission, they’ll most likely want to discuss the matter with you most harshly in some alley or field on the way to incarceration. This will hurt; a lot.

Perhaps you could provide some of your personal experiences in taking down knife wielding drunks and submit them to the LAPD for implementation.

Listen folks, no police officer is ever going to ask you to deal with the above assailant with something inadequate to the task, why ask the police to do the same?

If you are standing next to JOE and this nutbag with the knife starts to advance on him, with the clear intent of stabbing him, do you as a citizen have a clearly defined duty to save JOE, or is your own self preservation your primary concern? Are you required to draw your concealed firearm and engage said dirtbag?

No.

Can you think about it and then walk away?

Yes, twould be truly crappy, but absolutely justified.

A police officer on the other hand has a duty to immediately deal with said knife wielder and if time only allows the use of a firearm to deal with him, then that’s the answer.

Are we enjoying multiculturalism yet?

LA is a sanctuary city--they deserve what they're getting.

Probably illegal; they would have trumpeted his legal status if there was one. Also, the lack of English is a good sign; I believe there is still some semblance of an English requirement for legal immigration. In any case, this incident will result in a few million dollars for Rainbow/PUSH and the required hiring of 500 non-English speaking Guatemalan police officers in LA (and you can’t ask their immigration status).

It is a darn good system, all kidding aside. Imi gets props from me.

I still don’t want to try that knife defense “live” , though.

I used to work on Wilshire Blvd. near MacArthur Park from about 1967 to 1980. There was a steak house, Edwards, on Alvarado Blvd. near the park and we used to walk over to eat at lunch. At first most people that lived in the area were elderly and it was safe. But later the area started to turn Hispanic and it became unsafe to walk around the area even in broad day light. Eventually Edwards had to close because the area turned so bad no body would go there at night. Obviously the area has gone further down hill.

I wish I could argue with that, but you’re right. Now, if the corrupt morons in Washington can figure out a way to completely rig elections so all of the illegal aliens can vote, well, they will have achieved their heart’s desire—getting rid of all of those dissatisfied, hard-to-please, American voters.

I wish ICE would send some of their big well marked busses and circle that neighborhood for everybody to see.

I'd really rather they park them a block over and just round the biches up.
