yes but that 50% will NOT include Cap and Trade, Gov Run healthcare, which he already said he will NOT vote to repeal... i remember hearing this same talk about Reagan before the election, he cant win, he’s too conservative...
if we do manange to get the Congress back, with Castle, McCain, and Graham, do we really have a maj?? on any issue of real importance?

Oh really? Then why did did the RNC, and the Delaware GOP nominate her to be their candidate for Senate in 2008?

Were you RNCbots lying to us then when you said how great a candidate she was then, or are you lying to us NOW that you have an old boy Uber Rino you are pushing?

You make a good point, but do not get so fixated that you see monsters under all of the beds.

Not being a resident of Rhode Island, I am not up on all of the nuances of that state's politics, but I am also very leary of "principled conservatives" who have used their righteous indignation over a single point to justify sitting out elections and doing their own version of scortched earth.

I am not accusing you of this, but please understand that I see wild accusations from both sides of the GOP spectrum all of the time on this forum.

No doubt. We need to make socialism and all these Federal Socialist programs voluntary. If they want them. Let them pay.

Why would Castle run for reelection to the House every two years since 1996, finally get his chance at an open Senate seat (as you know, Castle would have preferred Roth to retire in 1994 so that he could have run straight for the Senate that year instead of having to bide his time in the House), get elected, and then immediately resign so as to let Joe Biden’s son get the Senate seat? That doesn’t make a lick of sense. Castle is a liberal, not a lunatic.

That Castle might switch to the Democrats someday ... sure, I could see that perhaps happening in the future, but only if it was in Castle’s selfish interests to do so, which would certainly not be the case after the GOP takes back both the House and Senate this year. If Castle didn’t switch to the Democrats before the 2006 or (especially) 2008 elections, when having an R next to his name was a huge liability and when he could have been in the majority party in the House, he certainly won’t switch before 2014 (when his seat is up). And whether or not he switches in 2014, I think that we need to get a solid, non-gadfly conservative to run against him that year.

I don’t want to “reward” Castle, but I don’t want to reward Coons either. We lost our chance to have a conservative win this seat when the only persons filing to run in the GOP primary were the RINO Castle and the Joe-Walsh-like O’Donnell. I think that we need to cut our loses and elect Castle for the four years remaining in Biden’s term, elect conservatives to downballot races, and have one of them run against Castle in 2014. I can understand if you cannot countenance supporting Castle even as part of a long-term strategy, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yeah heard you all saying the same thing about Schwatzegger back when. Had to support the liberal RINO just because the "polls" all showed him winning.

How did that work out of your all in CA?

A lot better than if Cruz Bustamante had won...

They were looking for a sacrificial lamb to run against Biden, and she was willing to do it, so *of course* they said that she was the cat’s meow. Maybe they knew that she wasn’t exactly honest and upright (and didn’t care), but most likely they didn’t bother to vet her properly. Either way, Christine O’Donnell’s problems have been of her own creation.

Here a question for your RNCbots to ponder. Now after your mutli million blitz trashing O'Donnell, what are you going to do if she wins?

You will do what you always do. Act like petulant children and run home crying because your pet RINO lost the primary.

We, on the other hand, will do what you always RNCbots always demand, hold our nose and support Castle despite serious doubts about his political soundness.

Of those two position, which side is actually made up of the adults and which is the child like one?

You RNCbots might want to consider that possibility rather then engaging in such shameless demagoguery and lying just because your pet uber RINO is in trouble.

How about if Castle is the 51st Republican and then goes home, ideologically speaking, by pulling a Jeffords in Jan 2011 and sells his seat to the Dems?

Did you people learn nothing from the Specter defection? The Jeffords sell out? The Crist double cross? The Scuzaffaza treason?

This was a perfectly winnable seat BEFORE the RNC decided to gunk up the works. So rather then cling to a single poll that validates your opinions, try actually THINKING about this race for a change.

Okay, Sir. I have tried to have a reasonable conversation with you and for it, I get trashed with absolutely false accusations.

First of all, I am not a "RNCbot".

Second of all, I have not participated in any "mutli million blitz trashing O'Donnell".

Finally, I have merely pointed out my concerns about the emotionally-charged comments on this forum and the actions of "principled conservatives" who don't get their way.

In no way are you justified to make such accusations of me.

In no way is your behavior justified.

Grow-up!

Oh don't be absurd.

Actually think for a change. After this complete smear job campaign, you know full well you all will do what your RNC Uber Alles types always do, go home crying because your pet RINO was rejected.

You've posted this same argument 3-4 times. Yes, if Castle became a Dem, it would be bad. But as others have pointed out, it would have made more sense for him to make the switch in 2006 or 2008, so he could have been in the majority. If he didn't do so then, why would he do so now?

And even assuming your scenario came to pass, how would that be any worse than the Dem winning the seat outright?

I submit that McCain was ahead in the polls at that point (Wall Street “Meltdown”-Hyped, see made worse, by Bush’s panic may I add) because of McCain’s pledge against corruption, and infusion of Sarah Palin as V.P.

When McCain voted for the “TARP” Bailout, he lost! If he had simply opposed BUSH and voted against it, then he may have very well won, I submit that he would very probably have.

How much betrayal do you have to see in a person's voting record before you will say "no, not really on our side politically"

Castle is a Democrat in everything but name. We aren't talking about a person who agrees with us "70-80% of the time". We are talking about a 70 year old guy who votes more like John Kerry then Jim Demint.

A well thought out adult opinion.

Remember DE is very blue state. Like MA, did conservatives really expect anone better than Brown? We weren’t likely to get a Jim DeMint in either case in these states in 2009/2010.

Justy a silly question, but what are the qualifications to be a member of congress?

So far as I have seen in this and previous election cycles, the primary qualification seems to be still breathing. Byrd, Kennedy, Thurmond and a few others were term limited by GOD, but hung onto their seats until their last breath.

The same is true of the SCOTUS, and but for the 22nd Amendment, Bill Clintoon would still be POTUS!

You view Castle through the prism of an honorable figure, I do not. What I’ve seen as I’ve gotten older is a real concerted effort by RINOs to collude with Democrats to the point that they are a common enemy and proponent of creeping Socialism, and an attempt to have liberals in control BOTH parties. I didn’t mean to say Castle would immediately switch and resign, but he would do so at an appointed time designed to maximize damage to the Conservative movement (Mark Kirk in IL will do the same, one reason he must be defeated in favor of the crook).

I am no longer an automatic vote or supporter of Republicans if they don’t favor open, reformist Conservative causes, and Castle is NOT our ally and I won’t merely support or endorse him on the fallacy that “only he can win.” OK, he wins, then what ? Have a guy in there who literally HATES Conservatives and reformist activists ? If electing Republicans like that is our only viable option, there’s no need for this party to exist. We should stop with the subterfuge and have these folks admit they’re both in the same boat. Better to have Coons and face the enemy head on than have Castle standing behind us with knife in hand ready to shank us at a key moment. Or have Jeffords, Specter, Chafee, Crist, Lisa Murkowski, et al taught us nothing ?
