Terry Jones: Burning Korans 'Meant to Be a Warning' (Moran's damning hypocrisy alert)
ABC News ^ | Sept. 7, 2010 | RUSSELL GOLDMAN

Posted on 09/08/2010 8:34:53 AM PDT by pillut48

As far as Terry Jones is concerned, he's just supplying the kindling -- several hundred copies of the Koran, Islam's holiest book.

He said the spark was ignited nine years ago when a band of Muslim terrorists boarded planes and turned U.S. citizens into weapons against their own people.

Now, as symbol of fiery retribution, Jones plans to build a giant bonfire and set ablaze the Muslim holy book on Sept. 11.

International Burn a Koran Day has become a flashpoint. What was seen for weeks as a strange front in the culture wars, this weekend became a front in America's real war, when Gen. David Petraeus weighed in to say he believed the display would be detrimental and dangerous to U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan.

What started as a simmering page on Facebook, Burn a Koran Day has become an international conflagration that the White House has been forced to discuss, if only to condemn.

Do NOT skip watching the video with this article. I almost threw up when Terry Moran, in his most elitist, PIOUS conciliatory manner, said (I am not making this crap up!):

"Pastor," Moran says softly, as if speaking to an errant child, "Don't you even have a *twinge* of conscience about doing something like this?"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

GAG ME. Can anyone show me a video where ANY journalist has asked Imam Rauf the same question asked in the same insulting way about building a mosque/non-mosque on Ground Zero?!? Oh, the HYPOCRISY!! >:-(

Now, I'm not advocating burning ANY books, period, but I think this pastor is not the crazy loon the MSM is trying to portray. I really liked his quote-"The question we have is, if we *don't* do it, WHEN DO WE STOP BACKING DOWN?"

Don't even get me started on Hilary's hypocritical comment about "...I am heartened by clear unequivocal condemnation of this disrespectful, disgraceful act..." Um, HELLO! When have I EVER heard you stand up and condemn people who burn the American flag or Bibles or those who ridicule people who participate in Tea Party rallies with sexual innuendo slang on major cable news channels??? Oh, no, that's FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

But Pastor Jones' event? A "disrespectful, disgraceful act..." Ugh. I cannot WAIT for November to get here and for the dems in charge of this country to begin getting booted out on their butts!!! >:-(

Well when do our “respectable conservatives” start asking their “respectable liberal” friends, “When do we stop backing down?”

“Jones said his message was intended to be a radical response to what he sees as a radical religion.”

Close but he needs to extrapolate more on this Islamic Enemy Government hell bent on taking control of our country ,now he has a spotlight.

This guy’s goal of burning the Koran is just stupid.

I say we should see him for what he is.

Jones is either a useful idiot, or a left wing subversive like Fred Phelps of Westboro.

A stage prop, the latest set up by the leftists.

Just a random thought on all this: watching the local news last night they ran a story on the Koran burning and the Islamic death threats it has caused. That story was immediately followed by a local story about a burglary at a church where the pew bibles were stolen. Some of them were found destroyed nearby.

Where’s the death threats for that? Instead of death threats, the pastor was on TV saying he’d forgiven the offenders and said that he hoped that those who stole the bibles would actually read them. I couldn’t have picked two better stories to run together to show the real difference here.

I saw something similar this morning w/ Anderson Cooper interviewing this guy.

Same elitist supercilious tone. Actually outright belligerent.

We look to the media to tell us the truth /sarc

Quite a few poster have said that burning the Quran is not helpful, or not useful dialogue. Nuts I say. Nuts to the Koranimals that get offended over real and imaginary slights. Nuts to those same Koranimals that kill innocents. 9/11 SHOULD be international burn a Quran Day. The Muslims as a whole should be made to face the irrationality, the arrogance, the brutality of their quasi-religious political system. Screw them. Over 2700 people died on 9/11 by the hands of these jihadist fools. The sooner their competing political quasi-religious system is outlawed in the West, the better.

That’s great, but I still want someone to actually question our “elite” because frankly I don’t think they care what is on the news or what happens to the little people.

I agree with Petraeus that Jones needs to back off because it will inflame muslims in the lands in which our troops are fighting and further endanger the troops. We do not need to place more burdens on them.

The “damage” has already been done. Not that the murdering muslims needed any reason or excuse to hate us anyway - they plan to conquer the world by force, regardless. Muslims already defile Bibles, and where is the public outrage over that? Burning those satanic verses is too tame - I say dump them in a pigpen with the other crap, to be trodden underfoot until it is all a homogenous mass of, well, crap.

"Tolerance" is simply "patience"...sooner or later everyone's patience wears thin.

If we don't watch out, we'll "tolerate" ourselves into islamic law and out of existence as the America we knew.

If it takes burning their version of "Rules for Radicals" to send a message, then so be it.

Sometimes you have to fight fire, with fire.

Here’s the deal.

The leftists want to make people who oppose the 911 victory mosque look like nuts. (It’s slowly becoming more and more obvious.)

So they prop up this guy Jones, who has been linked with “Reverend” Fred Phelps, and they hope the normal outrage against islamic jihad will sucker people into supporting Jones.

Then they can say “See, conservatives really are insane.” FreeRepublic is a major target of these leftist subversives.

Honestly till Americans start asking questions of the “elite” we are stuck in the reactionary rut being played by cynical manipulators.

And if Petraeus was so concerned about the troops, he wouldn’t have given this church even more notoriety by even mentioning it. I would never have heard about this stupid church, had it not been for Petraeus mentioning it.

Gen. David Petraeus weighed in to say he believed the display would be detrimental and dangerous to U.S. troops fighting in Afghanistan.

So if this minister doesnt burn it ... perhaps the Muslims will embrace us and we will finally make peace with them and begin to truly understand each other. /sarc

...that’s right...the media goal is to make opposition to Sharia look like a bunch of hillbilly snake handlers.
