Even though they failed to create jobs, stimulate the economy or make health care affordable, President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi want a raise.
A $3.8 trillion raise.
That's how much new money Washington will take from American workers and families over the next decade if the Obama tax hikes are enacted next year. Rather than admit they want to give the government a raise, the Democrats claim the government "can't afford" to keep taxes low. The truth is, Americans can't afford the European-style, socialist government the Democrats want to create.
Most people get raises for jobs well done. The Democrats want a tax raise because they haven't done their jobs. Instead of working to reduce the national debt, they've added trillions to it. To pay it down, they prefer to take another cut from Americans' paychecks than cut government spending.
This is how Washington thrives at America's expense. Remember how self-serving members of Congress got every pork-barrel project they ever wished for in President Obama's $787 billion stimulus bill? That bill produced thousands of earmarks, but not jobs. The Obama administration and the Democrat Congress haven't solved any of the problems that led to the financial collapse. They've used the economic meltdown as an excuse to steer tax dollars to political allies, donors and pet projects with their bailouts and takeovers.
Such me-first thinking by people who, in the words of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, didn't "want to let a serious crisis to go waste" plunged the economic crisis that began in 2008 into a deep, long-lasting recession. Increasing taxes now would be like tying an anchor around the flailing economy's neck.

Jim DeMint Ping!
JIM DEMINT FOR PRESIDENT!
Palin/DeMint 2012!
Thank you Jim DeMint!!! You tha man!!!
That’s exactly the way I feel about the schools ... they turn out a terrible product yet constantly complain that they need more money.
Somehow govt, education system especially, thinks the system exists to give them jobs - the objective is long forgotten.
It’s contagious because too many in the private sector think companies exist to provide jobs and benefits. For libs reading this, let me remind you that companies exist to make money for their shareholders and/or owners (you know the ones who risk their capital) - fortunately for those needing a job - companies mostly do this by hiring people.
Yep, a good comparison. Obama’s administration and schools both have people figuring out new ways to waste our money they don’t have and then raise taxes to get it.
Music to my ears !
Regards
I wouldn’t mind seeing that ticket, not at all.
Go Jim. And, yes, we the people will know what slugs give themselves raises when we are struggling to survive and they will be equally rewarded by us bygetting their walking papers from their cash cow jobs.
Wastrels!
Love DeMint! Replace Mitch, with Jim DeMint!!
Woo-Hoo!!
I like that DeMint is not just talking about pay raises. He’s talking about tax increases raising the amount the federal govt. gets to fix what it has never been successful at fixing.
They always want more but getting more does not make them any more successful. We get raises when we do well. The dems want to give the govt raises no matter how poorly they have done.
It’s about time someone put it in those terms, and I’m glad to see the Jim DeMint gets it. The junior senator from SC is fantastic. Now, if we could just do something about South Carolina’s senior senator.
Woo-Hoo!! is right on the money! The Dems would just hate it though. :-)
Jim DeMint does get it and like too many Repubs he is not bashful about speaking out. We need more like him.
I think Jim DeMint is super and I would support him for president, if he ran and Sarah didn’t, but I suspect he’s not interested, so I think he really needs to replace McConnell. Give DeMint the chance to try to whip the Senate squishes into voting like they damn well should. Our Republic is at stake and this is no time for reaching across the aisle to compromise with Marxists.
I couldn’t agree more. We need him in the Senate, we need him leading the Senate. He can do a lot of good in stopping the “ole boy” club.
I knew I liked you
