That’s one thing about the military, people will show up for the President....or else!

Personally, I'd have to beg off, if for no other reason than my toenails needed trimming. Priorities.

In the military, it's known as "mandatory audience duty", and it's not limited to Presidents.

A telling sign of how easy or difficult it was to fill the seats is the Presidential Handshake with the Troops. President Clinton regularly had to reach out for hands to shake, but President G.W. Bush didn't - hands were reaching out to shake his.
