WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is exhorting a Florida minister to "listen to those better angels" and call off his plan to engage in a Quran-burning protest this weekend.

Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Thursday that he hopes the Rev. Terry Jones of Florida listens to the pleas of people who have asked him to call off the plan. The president called it a "stunt."

Make it viral. Burn the Koran and post it on youtube. Let’s see if they(google) censor it.

Everyone go to Half Price books and pick one up and light it up and post it.

dooo eeet

Mr. President, the sound of the fire crackling over the burning Korans is one of the sweetest sounds in all the world. It’s better than the call to prayer dontcha know???

He walks deeper into the swamp. Tells the Muzzies they can build the mosque, tells the minister he can’t burn the Koran. It’s his early training in the Islamic grade school that is showing here, I think. But one certainly doesn’t have to wonder where he stands on religion does one!

Agreed they should not burn them, but why not say the same thing to the people that want to build the evil mosque at ground zero.

Or ask people to stop aborting their children for that matter, I forgot Barry celebrates abortion, what was I thinking.

If the Koran burning happens as speculated and the Muslims have a hissy fit because of it, then will that not show the world how unstable Muslims are?

Won’t the presumed Muslim reastion be the same as the actual Muslim reaction to the Danish cartoons?

Won’t it show the world once more that the Muslims are an unstable cult?

Everyone here tells someone to do something their way. You think it’s right to burn the book?

Dude. There is a difference between private citizens expressing their opinions and the POTUS doing so on TV. The POTUS has a job to do and enjoys certain limited powers. He should do his job and otherwise mind his own business while speaking publicly.

I have read Pastor Jones' arguments for what he is doing and have followed the story fairly closely. Pastor Jones says that he is serving God and speaking the truth. I think everyone should do that.

As for the book burning, I think this whole episode appears to be a good thing overall. It has people talking about important truths and has exposed falsehood and evil.

Agreed. If this Imam was really a man of peace and genuinely concerned about the anger growing in this country as a result of this mosque he would move it. If he really wanted the burning to stop, he would move the mosque as a show of understanding and peace. The fact that he is unwilling to do so ( to the point of threats ) speaks volumes to me as to the REAL meaning of this Mosque to the muslim world. It can’t be all take and no give, but that is exactly what this Imam is counting on. He needs to realize that this quran burning is a direct result of the planned mosque. This book burning isn’t the only incident like this, it is merely the first.
