Democratic Dunkirk?

Democrats try to escape Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

BY Fred Barnes

September 8, 2010 5:00 PM

We are now seeing the beginning of the political equivalent of the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. This time, it’s not British troops escaping Nazi German forces. It’s Democrats evacuating Obamaland, desperate to avoid identification with President Obama with their re-election (or election) on November 2 in doubt.

Okay, I’m exaggerating, but not much. There is indeed a growing exodus of Democrats from Obama and also from their congressional leaders, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. And it’s striking for several reasons.

For one thing, the evacuees want their constituents to know they’ve bailed out. They think it will help their campaigns and perhaps it will. At least five House Democrats are highlighting their votes against Obama’s health care plan. And you can expect more Democrats to join this parade. Politico couldn’t find even one Democrat who’s aired a TV ad that brags about supporting Obamacare.

Another noteworthy aspect: Democrats in tight races are staying away when Obama visits their state or praying he won’t come. Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin was absent from the president’s appearance on Labor Day in Milwaukee. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White didn’t show up for an Obama speech in Texas. In Cleveland on Wednesday, however, a number of top Democrats appeared with Obama, including Governor Ted Strickland and Senate candidate Lee Fischer.

My democrat congresscoward is denying his entire record and doing his fundraising outside the district. He knows he’s finished and he’s just padding his retirement fund.

They’re retreating but they’ll all come back if we let them.

they’ll all come back if we let them.

You can count on McCain to do the job single-handedly.

As more and more turn on Obama, this situation is just perfect for a spoof of that Hitler-in-the-bunker video.

' They’re retreating but they’ll all come back if we let them.'

It will take silver bullets to put them away. Some will require stakes through the heart.

I like the image of the Dems as the men in the water following the sinking of the USS Indianapolis myself. No communication of the sinking. Waiting for the sharks to find them. All day. All night. On and on.

0bama, Reid, Pelosi, Hoyer, Emanuel, Axelrod, the DNC...told the Dems to fall on their swords for the commie bills they never bothered to read: a “we who are about to ‘die’ salute you” political attitude. Apparently, there were those who simply didn’t believe the echelon. I don’t think I’ll give them my sword now. It’s mine.

Awful analogy.

The allies came back after Dunkirk. I don't want them coming back ever.

I want the analogy of their November experience to be Stalingrad, Dien Bien Phu, Little Big Horn and Waterloo all rolled into one.

I want to see them politically destroyed, never to be viable ever again.

they can now afford to redeploy to the center for summary reelection, or not. it does not matter to them.

unlike the british at dunkirk this force has inflicted significant damage that will take decades to repair. they are engaged in a strategic retreat after a monumental victory; with clear intent to regroup and reengage when and where they determine.

they have the strategic advantage, and now know they dictate the future terms of engagement on any front.

anyone that thinks the republicans taking the house and the senate will change anything is a fool, pissing on a 30 foot pile of unread paperwork that is now the law of the land.

I see a Democratic YorkTown.

The Obama Cornwallis along with his lackeys, are trapped between the tea party(Continental Army) and their traditional foes, the Conservative Americans(French Navy).

There is NO place to go....and this navy does not flee.

"You can count on McCain to do the job single-handedly."

One theory holds that Hitler let the Brits off the hook because he thought he negotiate a reasonable peace settlement. The Republicans always think they can reason with the Democrats and strike some middle ground not understanding that the left will never stop stealing liberty one slice at a time. We need some tread marks on the sand to finish this Progressive nonsense.

I agree, they’re down but not out.

If Soros can find the right “independent” to fund in 012, the Baraqqis have a decent shot at a Clintonian plurality win.

I believe they have about a third of the vote locked up no matter what.

Up here in NH-2, that scumbag Hodes is running as a fiscal conservative and using a hot dog eating contest as a backdrop for his campaign ad.

He is useless and liar. He needs to get his head handed to him in November.

This is something no one talks about....Why did all these politicians actually believe health care would actually be a successful vehicle for them to ride into their next election?

That means they live in a world with poor judgement and discernment, thus unqualified to lead people they are to represent.
