They should have had a comics section. Buyers are loyal to their favorite strips and some could be counted on chosing one paper over another based on the strips it carried. And whoa no one wants to face the wrath of a Garfield fan if you drop the “wrong” series.

True for most newspapers and other paper periodicals. The convenience and portability factor of a newspaper isn't quite there yet in electronic format, but the writing is on the screen. There might be some call for paper publications, much like horse carriage rides, but most people take motorized vehicles. It doesn't matter which brand of carriage you're talking about - they will all be replaced.

OK, everybody, how is Carlos Slim going to get his 250 Million back? Being as how there was never a public statement as to his reason for making such a substantial investment in a dead whore, so to speak, he must have gotten clear title to the whorehouse itself.

Carlos Slim will get his money back when the NY Times fires 50% of their newsroom staff, stops buying paper and stops paying printing and distribution costs once the paper edition stops printing.

Another corrupt tabloid owned by the DNC takes a hook to the jaw. Good riddance to this rubbish.

I once attended a Unitarian “service”.

Yuck. The “sermon” consisted of reading a New York Times editorial bashing Bush. I kid you not.

I also found it interesting that after the “service” they would come around with a cart and pick up all the “hymnals”. When I asked them about this, they said it was because the congregation would steal them if they didn't.

There’s a huge market for non-liberal slanted news. If the NY Times wants to change business models perhaps they could consider that instead of cutting staff?

I do not read the New York Times, but I know that it influences what local papers print. Newspaper reporters are lazy, and they would rather print another paper’s work than do the work themselves. The NYT is a disgrace, and it has done much damage to this country. It has been run by liberal ideologues for decades. It cannot die fast enough for me.

They should have had a comics section.

If one really needed a good laugh from the Times, there was always the editorial page.

The brand is too badly damaged. It is like a house with a bad foundation. It isn't worth fixing. You would be better off just waiting for them to stop the print addition, buying up the presses and starting a new newspaper. But seriously why bother. Aside from delivering coupons, movie listings and restaurant reviews I don't use the printed paper for much. And the last two of those things could be done with on-line versions more efficiently than on paper.
