Sometimes, a White House press conference can be a chance for a president to take some weight off his shoulders ... but weight off his fingers?

Eagle-eyed reporters noticed that President Barack Obama wasn't sporting his wedding ring during Friday's White House press conference.

"big to-do over potus not wearing his wedding ring today," Tweeted The Hill's Sam Youngman, who was at the presser.

Obama's wedding band is "an intricate gold design from Indonesia, where he had lived as a boy," the New York Times reported in 2009.

Michelle will probably be okay with it; after all, she once left home without her wedding ring, too.

Well after 50 some years my dad's wore out and split in half. I always thought a couple should consider that a sign of a successful union when the ring wears out before you do.

There are things that people do that reveal their true selves. IMO< this ring issue is interesting in that it's of Indonesian design.

You make decision about rings based on sentimentality. Indonesia was where he attended a Muslim Madrassa as a boy. Evidently those days under Islamic direction are integral to who Obama truly is. He seems to think so, so much so that it influenced one of the most significant things that a man will do, choose the origin, design, and meaning behind something he will wear the rest of his life.

The symbolism Obama chose, was that of a constant reminder of his Islamic training, and to a culture from a nation that was not his own. Or was it?

It's quite evident this guy isn't one of us, and I could give a rats ass what his color is.
