Guess who else is feeling a draft to run for mayor of Chicago?
Carol Moseley-Braun, who held Barack Obamas U.S. Senate seat from 1992 to 1998, says she started getting calls as soon as Mayor Daley announced he would not seek re-election.
Actually, someone texted her as Daley made his announcement, she said.
This is all very new Ive been out of politics a long time, Moseley-Braun said. But Im seriously considering this.
Moseley-Brauns last official post was ambassador to New Zealand from 1998 to 2001. Now she runs her own organic food company called Ambassador Organics.
The Hyde Park resident is a former state legislative leader and Cook County Recorder of Deeds who won an unlikely victory over longtime Sen. Alan Dixon. After her ambassadorship ended she moved briefly to her family farm in Georgia but has been back in Chicago since 2001.
She even tried running for president in 2004, but pulled out and endorsed then-Democratic front-runner Howard Dean.
Moseley-Braun was last in the news for getting mugged near her home three years ago.

But, Rahm is stumping for it.
She's going to be creamed by innuendo.

Can you imagine if we had a Republican mayor?

The Millennium Park Kidney Bean Statue would make a better mayor!

Peraica doesn't live in Chicago. He lives in Riverside. Aside from that, he's got some major baggage. I kind of think of him as the John McCain of Illinois... fairly reliable conservative voting record on most of the important stuff, but did something inexcusable on an issue or two, stabbing the GOP base in the back, and he LOVES the media spotlite. Like McCain, there are a handful of conservative activists who absolutely hate his guts and would prefer a RAT over him (although in both cases, I happily campaigned and knocked on doors for Peraica and McCain when they were the opposition candidate to an slimy race-baiting marxist)
In short, it would never happen.
Although I must admit for sheer entertainment value, A Peraica vs. Moseley-Braun run-off election would be ideal.

"Oh please, please....stay out!"Bet she runs -- so far, she's the 'name' black candidate -- and then serves as the pivot (wo)man for Rahm to nail down the black vote in the general after she takes 80% of that group in the primaries. Imagine the grift!
