Boehner: I'll Drop Tax Cut for Rich If I Have To [reality check at post 121]
CBSNEWS ^

(CBS) The leading Republican in the House, and a vocal proponent of allowing an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for all Americans, including the wealthiest 3% of earners, objected to charges by President Obama that Republicans are holding tax breaks for the bottom 97% of earners hostage unless the wealthiest also get an extension.

In a pre-taped interview to appear on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner said that, if approving a bill to extend breaks for middle class income Americans were "the only option," he would support it.

The Congressional Budget Office has estimated extending tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans would cost $700 billion over the next decade.

At a speech in Ohio earlier this week, Mr. Obama said, "With all the other budgetary pressures we have - with all the Republicans' talk about wanting to shrink the deficit - they would have us borrow $700 billion over the next 10 years to give a tax cut of about $100,000 each to folks who are already millionaires."

What spin and baloney, That’s not what the man said! He said there is no current bill language, and before he watched the economy slip further, he would consider passing what he could.

You're talking to a bunch of SeeBS propaganda milksops.

No one here believes anything but that Republicans should stop going to the DNC (CBS) to be interviewed.

It gives them credibility as journalists, when they are Dem hacks.

In turn, the average Joe sees and reads this crap...and here we go again.

HOW MANY DECADES DO WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH REPUBLICANS BEING ROLLED BY THE MSM/DNC?

I guess, as the stupid party, they are on track to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

What is the matter with them?!

Perhaps it is good "politics" but it is poor "leadership." A leader should be able to hold on to his core beliefs and have the ability to verbalize the necessity of doing so. Until we can do that, we will be doomed to be only followers and complainers with only brief times in the spotlight.

It only proves that, like most in politics today, Boehner is only a "politician" and not a leader. I say tax cuts for ALL taxpayers. The battle for the hearts and minds of the electorate will be fought with leadership and in the arena of ideas, not in placating and appeasement.

If you give in even an inch to a liberal/progressive then they will take that inch and incrementalize it into a mile if it is within their power.

If they get "their" tax hikes for the so called rich then who is the real leader in this matter. They still get what they want!

Stand strong and hold on to that which is good. The electorate is full of anger with the way this administration is handling the affairs of this country.

This election should be a cake walk for the conservatives. They seem to be woefully laking in communication skills at this time.

“If the only option I have is to vote for those at 250 and below,” he added, “of course I’m going to do that. But I’m going to do everything I can to fight to make sure that we extend the current tax rates for all Americans.”

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/sc-dc-boehner-tax-cuts-20100912,0,5466045.story

What kind of asanine statement is this? What does he mean “if the only option I have”?! Rolling over to the Democrats is NEVER the “ONLY option”. Especially not now, when Republicans have a chance to stop the Obama socialist agenda, IF they don’t screw it up, but I guess that’s too much to expect.

I can’t believe this stupidity!

How convenient, I just tried calling Boehner’s Ohio Offices and his DC office, and the phones just ring off their hooks...not even an opportunity to leave a voice mail!

You know, this Damn is about to bust, and when it does, there won’t any stopping it!!

I agree with that. Boner should avoid SeeBS.

Looks like Boenher got that tan playing golf with Barry.

Hey, these are some of the dems'/media's new talking points about Boehner (“a 60-year-old, perpetually tanned, sharply tailored, chain-smoking golfer”) post 152. They are trying to villify Boehner even with the Repubs.

Every friggin’ Republican has been running around screaming, that raising taxes on the rich(?) will cause more unemployment, as the rich ($250k+) do most of the hiring! Now, this “turd in the punch bowl” Boehner wants to compromise? RINO!!!!!

And he wants to be the Speaker of the House?? NO Thanks. We can’t be giving up out ideas if we take the House and Senate.....We must stick to our ideas..... If the Republican’s go back on Taxes or the Health Care Bill being taken out...I predict big trouble for 2012.....

Most of the top 3% are liberals anyway who don’t want a middle class tax cut.
