Yet, even as Steve Cohen's 9th Congressional District opponent prepares a campaign that may include a billboard proclaiming "Charlotte Bergmann can whip Steve Cohen," Memphis' most popular elected Democratic legislator is indicating he will not mount a large campaign aimed at motivating Democratic voters.

Cohen wasn't even sure how much effort he would put into a get-out-the-vote operation for his Democratic base.

Could also be that he knows his butt is toast and why bother mounting a campaign. There is a theory out there that a number of congresspeople essentially sacrificed their careers to pass so-called health care reform and all those other schemes “for the good of the party.” Perhaps in exchange for his loyalty there might be some reward coming his way — like a cabinet post???

I don’t think this district has much of a gop base. If Charlotte could somehow ignite some passion among blacks to switch parties it might flip.
He figures he’s got the vote sewed up. He beat the former Memphis mayor King Willie Herenton in the primary by a very large margin. Of course the only campaigning King Willie did was race baiting.
Cohen says he votes like a black woman, BUT won’t debate his black GOP opponent.
Charlotte’s 2 GOP primary challengers were white males.
The County portion is strong GOP, the city is usually strong dem, but this time around the economy is bad, 10% unemployment. Quite a bit of the district is in the county portion, Germantown, Raleigh, Bartlett, etc.

You and me both. This is not like when Rod Deberry went up against JR. Any fool knew what that outcome would be.
I’ve convinced my neighbor’s on one side to vote for Charlotte, they are black and normally vote demwit. But they are fed up with the unemployment, the illegals, the taxes, and the lady of the house works at LeBonhuer so she is more aware than most about the obamacare damage. They are a hard working family.
I don’t have a lot of spare $$ but I’ve contributed several times to Charlotte, and passed out over 300 flyers for her. And have magnetic signs on both sides of my car.

We will also have a very high county turn out, consolidation is on the ballot...70+% of county residents OPPOSE it, they aren’t fools, they know consolidation means more taxation, less services, lower property values, more crime, and ONE PARTY RULE...DEMWIT.

Cohen Dismisses Charlotte Bergmann - Will You?
Democrat Crying The attached Commercial Appeal article appeared today, Sunday the 12th of September. It’s appropriate that this happened during all the marches around the country that signal we are about to sweep out the conniving and thieving Democrats in November.
Want to make this a November to Remember in Memphis? Then get your Tea Party membership up an at ‘em and help us win in the 9th District! Our candidate, Charlotte Bergmann, was recruited by the Tea Party and won her primary. We did it with all volunteers!
Now we are working with a great group of professional leadership and an expanded volunteer staff, all driven to help Charlotte win in November. The incumbent, Steve Cohen is the most liberal member of the TN Democrats and probably the most liberal supporter of Nancy Pelosi in Congress with a 100% Yes vote.
He is so arrogant that he isn’t even working to win the district. Instead, he continues to dismiss Charlotte Bergmann and the Tea Party as a bunch of right wing racist loons! Is Cohen simply saving his “war chest” for his retirement? These guys play it to take home the big paycheck if they don’t spend their fund raising for their election. Cohen is great at keeping the good stuff for himself and providing the crumbs to the constituents.
So what am I asking? I want your money, your time or both! I want you to commit to getting your troops up and making calls. I want you to help us by using our call center application from the comfort of your home. And if you can, I want you to write the Commercial Appeal, join us in Memphis and go door-to-door to get EVERY Republican, Independent and even Democrats who want to see a change out to vote for Bergmann.
Our city is in the toilet due to 30 years of Democrat rule and policies. Thirteen of the eighteen failing schools in TN are in Memphis. We have a 50% failure rate at the high school level. We have the 2nd worst crime per capita in America. And with 70% out of wedlock births, we enshrine poverty from the beginning of life. This is the reality of Democrat policies. This is the reality of Steve Cohen.
So, are you in this with me? Are you ready as a Tea Party leader to try and make a difference. Can you at least get your teams making calls or volunteering their time?

The CA has performed 10 unofficial polls in 2010 related to local elections. I examined the results of each 2010 local election poll and found the results mirrored the actual election outcome in 9 out 10 cases. Charlotte leads Cohen by 9 points. As the poll continues, her lead may grow. This is an incredible showing for a political newcomer challenging a person who has been a permanent fixture of the political scene for over two decades.
When people say Charlotte can’t win we can respond by citing the results of this CA poll. Keep in mind the CA poll has accurately indicated the election outcome 9 out of 10 times in 2010. Thank you CA! Things are looking good!
