Etymological speaking "Ethnos" is the Greek for nation (Strict meaning a foreign nation) so you could have someone of sub-Saharan African parentage who was ethnically Finnish. (ie culturally and linguistically)
Bit I don't think that's what they mean
Current federal government policy is that employees cannot challenge an individual on what race or sex they claim to be no matter what their appearance.
In their whacko, leftist, politically correct eyes you are now what you claim to be, not what you look like, act like or what other information may be on other documents.
This is supposed to somehow protect minorities, homos. transexuals, etc. but it opens the door for all kinds of manipulation and some downright funny stuff.
Aquaman doesn’t have no stinkin’ cape.
Descendant of Noah here.
You mean Seaman?
I escaped from the Klingon penal colony on Rura Penthe. However, nobody believes me because conditions here are worse.
Im a Celt! And I have Mead!
Hey! I’m a Celt and I’m brewing some mead.
Actually, I am against the whole jury choosing system. They should take the first however many people, and each lawyer gets to toss off one person. The ONLY other reason someone can be tossed off is if they know someone involved in the trial. Otherwise, sorry, they are on the jury. End of story. This whole business of choosing juries is completely and totally NOT with justice in mind.
I have bee called to jury duty 6 or 7 times over the years. They have never picked me, they always pass over me. They just want to waste my time, I guess.
Actually my Mom did a lot of family research and we have Cherokee (it appears, they did not live on the reservation) on both sides of our family tree, so sometimes I do put Native American on things. Just because. I WAS born here, and so were my ancestors. Maybe pretty far back. At least as far back as I can go.
Not at all. I had to tell a Court that you are outside of your jurisdiction. (They were) Not the smartest folks even though they think they are.
Jury Quota’s and Jury affirmative action.
That 12 bucks you get for jury duty is a lot of money.
Don’t let the lawyers know that.
[They’ll want some, and lawyers on mead..]
It’s an honor, really, to be passed over. They want people who cannot think for themselves and they love minorities for this very reason. They assume, of course, that all minorities are liberals because liberal minorities fit that mold quite well.
There’s something about me they never like, but they always make me come sit there. :(
As a college educated, white Christian male business owner that has worked his entire life without receiving govt aid once... If I went to trial and wanted a jury ‘of my peers’... Would they be the local subway employees that would never relate to 80 hr weeks... Or people of similar demographics?
Yea, I know... I’d get stuck with the subway employees that believe more in socialism than capitalism
My 6-great grand mother was born in Capetown in 1640, so I am a legal AA anthough Blonde & blue eyed
Thereza Heinz-Kerry is African.........
I take it that is “American-Athabaskan”....
I’m sure, except they always pick my husband (which annoys him because he’d rather be at work) and without giving any personal info about him, he does not fit any of those criteria.
