NRSC Will Not Support O'Donnell [Update: NRSC now says it will support O'Donnell]

Full statement by John Cornyn, head of the NRSC:

“Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee's chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

“I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.

“We remain committed to holding Democrat nominee New Castle County Executive Chris Coons accountable this November, as we inform voters about his record of driving his county to the brink of bankruptcy and supporting his party's reckless spending policies in Washington.

“In the weeks ahead, we will decide where to best allocate additional financial resources among the large number of competitive races at stake this November. While it's not in Republicans' interest to advertise our spending strategy to our opponents, it's worth noting that just yesterday, the NRSC's first independent expenditure ad aired in support of Dr. Rand Paul's campaign in Kentucky, where we firmly believe that he will win in November.

“It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees, including in key battleground states like Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, and New Hampshire, among others. The Democrats' indecision reflects the fact that Republicans are on offense in at least 12 Democrat-held states and we are leading in the polls in seven of those 12 states.

“Finally, on the matter of the New Hampshire Senate race, while the results remain outstanding, we continue to monitor the Republican primary race, and we stand ready to fully support whichever candidate is chosen as the nominee.”

Uhm, no, I don’t think O’Donnell is a RINO who will vote liberal 50% of the time. I think she’s a conservative who will vote 0% of the time for conservatives because she can’t win. Thus, the 50% I’d get out of Castle is better than the 0% I get from O’Donnell who has to explain her whack job lawsuit on anger management and other fun stuff the next two months.

The liberals will show their hypocrisy. Since liberals have always supported women and minorities who file lawsuits against discrimination.

Informed voters will be able to see thru them. The game plan will not play. It didn't play in the primary, and it won't play in the general. School's out.

The establishment rinos will lose. O'Donnell will win in spite of rino efforts to compromise and subvert her campaign.

It looks to me like Karl Rove is MISSING the big picture. In sports they call it “the big MO”.

Or, maybe he does, and here he is trying to chop away at it from underneath... Why?

The answers are not pretty.

Very interesting question. Rush let Karl sub for him a couple weeks ago.

Apologize for an old friend or call him on it?

Ok, here's another (question). Does Palin come out to defend COD?

Paul

Maybe he thinks the “big MO” can’t sustain itself. To use a sports term like you have, there was a lot of buzz about the run and shoot years ago, but it didn’t survive. Maybe he thinks this is a perfect storm. He’s been at this game for a long time.

I have ZERO doubts in my mind that Rove would love to see conservatives win. He’s smart enough to know, however, when they have no shot you’re better off going with the RINO then the 100% liberal. It’s called being pragmatic.

Two days ago I read that O'Donnell couldn't beat Castle. Now I hear she can't beat the Rat. We'll see.

But what you don't get is that we have decided to stop the old merry-go-round, the old lesser-of-two-evils con game. No matter what else happens, we are rid of Castle. That's a win.

Because he is an establishment rinoist, busy protecting establishment rinos. By their reaction, O'Donnell is obviously a threat to them.

Why is she a threat? She's a conservative supported by the tea party, and Sarah Palin. Both are true conservatives. Not RINOS. Karl knows all RINOS are currently an endangered species threatened with extinction.

I will do all I can to see they become extinct.

I had always heard that when you offend Badgers, they will follow you anywhere for the kill. I am sure this is myth, but I will run with that version for my purposes in our battle against the establishment,i.e, RINO GOPers.

Surely it was a mental glitch. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Well, that does put badgers in an entirely different light.

I was called that at a previous job by the way.

It must be where the saying "Quit Badgering me" comes from, as if saying, leave me alone.

As example:a collection agent calling and calling, hounding until they get what they want.

In spite of the rinos who will fight with all they have against her, she will defeat the rat Coons in a landslide.

Sweet justice is around the next bend. All we have to do is step on the gas. If the rino possum is stuck in the middle of the curve, well, we got unintented roadkill.

Well, I disagree. I don't think Rove is all that much of a Conservative, and certainly not a Constitutional Conservative. Others on FR have pointed that out, quite well. What Rove is, is a behind the scenes political power, and he does not want to lose that power and influence.

Not one of the professional analysts that I know of, thought 4 weeks ago that O'Donnell had even a prayer. Heck, I didn't think she had a prayer. Yet she won big. So please forgive me if I take with a grain of salt this "she's unelectable in a blue state" business. This is NOT a normal time, and if she has even a 30% chance of winning, it's worth the risk.

Can the conservative "Tea Party" momentum be lost? Well, yes. If the economy suddenly took off, that would seem to "redeem" Obama and the Dems. But, I think we all know that is not going to happen, and most certainly not by November.

Or, a major Tea Party leader could make a horrible gaffe or stumble. That could hurt. But, the only "leader" who is "big enough" to create that sort of impact with a misstep is Sarah Palin -- and so far I see no sign she's going to slip that badly.

The MOST likely momentum killer would be rot or attacks from inside, and that's exactly what Rove is doing. He knows the Establishment Republican Party is in big trouble. By 2012, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party may be in position to do pretty much to them (and him) what she did to the Establishment Republican Party in Alaska. The Dems... well, we'll see if they do a Clinton and wise up, or continue to self-destruct.

No surprise, just like I will not support the RINO-loving, aisle-crossing NRSC.
