into the military in the first place. Aren’t there rules about
citizenship? Of course, I was never in the service so I don’t
really know what is required, especially nowadays.

I don’t know about today’s rules. When I was in the service many years ago, I saw a lot of non citizens, many from the Philippines, serving in our military. Many of them became citizens while on active duty.

But were they LEGAL? I don’t understand how illegals enlist. When my son enlisted he needed tons of paperwork and a background check. Another thing is the military is NOT short on manpower, all branches are at capacity plus.
