Carla Bruni Book: Michelle Obama in 'Hell'

Michelle Obama told French first lady Carla Bruni that her life as the first lady of the United States is "hell," according to an account in a new book.

The White House declined to comment on the account, first noted by London’s Daily Mail.

In an authorized biography written by French journalists Michael Darmon and Yves Derai, Bruni recalls that during her March visit to the White House with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, she asked the first lady about her post.

“Don’t ask,” Obama said, according to Bruni. “It’s hell. I can’t stand it.”

The book, "Carla and the Ambitious," is due out Friday and was written, in part, as a competitor to an unauthorized biography.

It’s a morphing of photos. The first photo is with the Spainish princess and Bruni, those are the two women on the left. And they are climbing the steps, together on a day when Michelle Obama was not there.

They then took another photo of Michelle climbing those steps, in that dress, on the day she met the Spanish king and queen.

So, yes, she did wear that dress. And yes, the other two ladies and Michelle are morphed into one photo.

What makes that photo stunning, of course, is the size comparison between the women. And THAT has not been altered. They are in correct scale. It’s just made to look that they were all climbing the steps together on the same day.
