Obama Reveals Anti-Gun U.N. Intent; Sends Ex-Seattle Mayor As Rep

OBAMA REVEALS ANTI-GUN U.N. INTENT; SENDS EX-SEATTLE MAYOR AS REP

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

BELLEVUE, WA – The appointment of anti-gun rights former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels as an alternate representative to the United Nations has removed any doubt about the Obama administration’s intentions regarding global gun control initiatives, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Nickels, a founding member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the author of Seattle’s failed attempt to override Washington’s state firearms preemption statute, was sworn in Wednesday to “help represent the United States in the UN assembly,” according to the Seattle Times.

“Putting an extremist gun banner in any position to represent this country at the United Nations amounts to renting a billboard for advertising against the Second Amendment,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “While he was Seattle’s mayor, Greg Nickels supported every anti-gun scheme put forth by Washington CeaseFire, the Northwest’s most active gun prohibition lobby.

“Nickels is a gun ban proponent,” he continued, “so his appointment as an alternate to the UN is a clear signal of Barack Obama’s intention to rubber stamp the UN’s global gun ban agenda. We had to sue Nickels while he was still Seattle’s mayor to overturn his illegal city parks gun ban. Now he gets to push his anti-gun philosophy on a world scale. It hardly seems a coincidence that Nickels has been appointed by the Obama administration at a time when the UN is considering treaties and initiatives that pose a serious threat to the Second Amendment.”

Nickels was turned out of office in 2009, which was something of a feat in a liberal enclave like Seattle, Gottlieb recalled. His defeat in the primary demonstrated the degree of alienation voters felt from a politician who once epitomized the Seattle liberal establishment.

“By naming Greg Nickels as an alternate representative at the UN,” Gottlieb stated, “President Obama has essentially told America’s 85 million gun owners that their firearm civil rights are in jeopardy. Nickels cannot be counted on to defend the Second Amendment because he would like to see it erased from the Constitution.”

“...Since our rights do not come from government, we will lose nothing. It doesn’t matter what treaty they sign, or how SCOTUS rules...”

Spot-on.

And it still comes down to house to house. And that is very bloody business indeed, for all concerned.

I agree. However, it will take a strong conservative Congress to do so.

Precisely. However, it doesn’t matter what the U.N. passes or signs. With respect to our gun rights, Katrina was the third strike of the match.

And, how about tried for treason against America?

Get’s my vote!

Yup. But, we need to pursue them with a very serious and vigorous effort. What they did to America in less than 2 short years is an abomination. In order to ensure, or at least guard against, such a direct attack from within on our freedoms, we need to make a strong statement/stand. We can’t run out of gas, fumble the ball or wimp out. No guts no glory! It takes courage and I hope there is a mess of it with conservatives out there.

I'll tell you what's really spot on, FRiend - your Tag Line!

If they do choose to go the house-to-house route, it will be MOST unfortunate.

Keep your powder dry

“...No guts no glory! It takes courage and I hope there is a mess of it with conservatives out there....”

There is PLENTY of courage, honor, and guts with conservatives. But It’s the GOP that has to initiate the pursuit, once in power, and I do NOT have faith in that - at least, not with they’ve shown in the recent past.

Hopefully, with the Tea Party candidate insurgency, there’s a new Sheriff in town.

But I’ve learned to keep careful reign on my optimism.

Trust but verify, as Ronaldus Magnus said. How I miss that man and his boisterous, vigorous, muscular Americanism and patriotism.

Removing the RINOs is a step in the right direction; they are the immediate threat, because they are the scum who sneak down in the middle of the night, unlock the gates, and let the barbarians in, hoping to curry favor. Forgetting of course that the barbarians will savage them as well, ultimately, when their usefulness is done.

You are right. We need to tell them loud and clear what is expected of them. If they don’t deliver - they are one term wonders. GOP needs to realize the people mean business. We see and feel how close to losing our country we have come. Leftists in hollywood, TV, radio, politics creating havoc and sending us into a spiral. We can’t allow that any longer. We are at the brink - a mistep could bring down America as we know it - it can’t be an option at this point.

“...it can’t be an option at this point...”

It’s NOT an option; they either perform their duties or they will be removed.

They are Public SERVANTS and need to be reminded that they can be FIRED like anyone else.

Witness Mike Castle’s arrogant temper tantrum about being removed from office.

That attitude and those days are DONE.

New day dawning. We The People said so.

"California Bans Gun Shows We are at a crossroads that will determine the future of our Second Amendment Rights. The gun-haters have made it clear they will not respect the recent Supreme Court gun victory. Russell and Sallie Nordyke are victims of the anti-gunners nation-wide assault on our freedom. The couple had operated a gun show on the fairgrounds in Alameda County, California. In 1998, a shooting that was completely unrelated occurred on the fairgrounds. City officials blamed the shooting on the Nordyke's gun show and passed a law prohibiting all gun shows. SAF has just filed an amicus brief in the Nordyke vs. King case. The outcome of this case will determine if anti-gunners across America can continue to pass laws to grab your guns!

"Recently, the Supreme Court ruled that the right to bear arms was protected by the Second Amendment and applies to all states. The victory of the decision was short lived. Now, California is refusing to let their citizens exercise their Second Amendment Rights. The Nordyke vs. King Case has been in the courts for 11 years!" This could be happening in your state....take action and call your elected about any grabbing of privately owned guns will not be tolerated....only the criminals will have guns...ask Britishers and Aussies.

Based on the UN’s performance over the years at enforcing its own resolutions and keeping the peace, I’m not so sure there’s anything to worry about if they do pass some kind of anti-gun measure.

“There is NO WAY a treaty banning firearms gets ratified by the Senate.”

True for now, but don’t forget about the czars and powers of individual agencies (eg EPA) to bypass Congressional action. You must remember, the Gestapo is in charge right now.

Maybe so, FRiend... but I pity the fool that tries to come for my guns.

They’d best bring a regiment of the 82nd Airborne... I have the average SWAT Team seriously outgunned.

Obama means to disarm the U.S.A. as well as tax us into poverty - all by turning our sovereignty over to the United Nations.

Can he achieve all that by the end of the year?
