This zero tolerance crap REALLY fries me!

When I was in middle school (late 80s), I got “caught” with a Swiss army knife in my bookbag. It was my Boy Scout knife, and I usually always had it with me. Some little kid reported me to a teacher, but when I was dragged into the AP’s office, he called my mother, told her that she had to come pick it up and that it wasn’t appropriate to have at school and sent me on my way.

I DREAD to think what my young life would’ve been like if I was born 10 years later.

When I was in school you could take a shotgun on the bus to school, store it in your school locker, and hunt after school on school property!

Dude, in my high school half the pickups and cars had shotguns in them since the farm boys would go hunting early in the morning. We also had a smoking court and as seniors were allowed to go out for lunch. BTW, we never had to have teachers teach us on how to use a condom. Times, they do change.

We bought our son a small swiss army knife when he was seven and that kid thought he had gone to heaven. He will cherish it forever. He was homeschooled and I still told him not to take it out of his pocket in public. You never know where a libtard will be.

I'd probably still be in jail :-)

Rarestia, There’s that Pavlovian Conditioning again...guns are BAAAAAAAD. People who own them are BAAAAAAD.

They’re messing with our kids. And that, to me, is unacceptable. My kids have been shooting since they were 5 years old. So have I.

Personally, if this was my kid I’d tell the school board to shove it up their “collective “ asses and homeschool my kid.

So you’re what, 33 - 36 or so??

I had similar experiences (I’m 33).

It’s amazing how much things have changed in that regard in such a short time.

Even smoking. I never smoked, but I remember kids who got caught...the worst that happened was the assistant principal took their smokes (and smoked them himself) and maybe a 2-day suspension.

When I was in the fourth grade the teacher would borrow a knife from one of the boys if she needed to open a package or something, we all carried pocket knives. She liked to eat an apple every day but she didn’t normally use a knife for that, she just put both hands on it and twisted it in two in the center. No I am NOT joking, she did it, I never could understand it, she said it was easy if you ever learn how.

That was America in the fifties. A knife was a portable tool, not a weapon.

Perhaps. But if you make allowances in one case you have to make allowances in all cases. In that case you might as well not have any policy at all.
