Karl Rove the top GOP strategist who declared last week that Christine ODonnells surprise victory does little good for the party is now calling on the surprise Senate nominee to explain her comments about witchcraft.
"In southern Delaware where there are a lot of churchgoing people, they're going to want to know what that is all about, the former aide to President George W. Bush told "Fox News Sunday."
My view is she cant simply ignore it, he said. Shes got to deal with it and explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on.
ODonnell uttered the comments in question during a 1999 appearance on the now-canceled show Politically Incorrect, saying then, I dabbled into witchcraft I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft.
The 11-year-old interview was dug up Friday by liberal comedian Bill Maher the former host of Politically Incorrect. During the 1999 appearance, ODonnell also described one of her first dates with a witch on a satanic altar.
A spokesman for the ODonnell campaign did not respond to CNNs request for comment.
She cant simply say, Oh these are unfactual, and not true,' and just ignore them, Rove also said. I dont think the people of Delaware have or are accepting that as a reasonable explanation.
Citing exhaustion and scheduling conflicts, ODonnell canceled her plans over the weekend to appear on both "Fox News Sunday" and CBS "Face the Nation" a move Rove called a smart decision.
She shouldnt have accepted in the first place, he said. Its Delaware voters, not conservatives across the country who will determine the outcome of this election
and there is, as I say, resistance.

If you are in Del. don't vote for her.
Karl...you chubby little gnome-like pro-illegals Bot.
You told us to shut up about Obama’s racist church and domestic terrorist ties and yet you care that this lady in your own party maybe looked at a little Celtic Goddess type black/white magic as a high schooler. Hell I had that Celtic book...occult designs..Kroll or something like that...who cares.
Are frigging nuts or just a damned fakir?
maybe she should she really have to explain what she thought they meant by “bustle in my hedgerow” asshat....woooooo...scary.
:You know, at least Judas had enough shame to go and hang himself.
Explain, so that we don’t just write you off as completely unhinged.”
If Psalm 144 is applying that thought to Karl ‘Rhino’ Rove, I concur.
‘Thank the LORD, my rock, who trained my hands to fight and my fingers to do battle, my merciful one, my fortress, my stronghold, and my savior, my shield, the one in whom I take refuge, and the one who brings people under my authority.’
Rove, you have become irrelevant!
When people like Rove make such direct challenges to someone of Palin’s prominence, tells me the hierarchy is deeply worried that their castles will be overrun.
*************
Well, one Castle has already fallen.
;-)
Pardon me, but I actually think that Karl Rove is the one with a whole lot of explaining owed to conservatives!
And if he can’t step up with a valid rationale for his opportunistic attacks upon a winning Conservative Candidate, he should exit in silence and shame!
Bring it on Karl!
That way if she loses they get blamed instead of him—if she wins he can claim to be right about her chances because it took those two to drag her across the finish line.
Karl is a self-serving schmuck and nothing else.
What makes you think any teacher "turned her on to it", it could have been a few idiot teenagers fascinated with witch craft from reading about it. Besides, who gives a sh** after all these years except for Trolls, lefties and RINOs?
I once used a Ouija board game when I was a kid. One other time I played D&D until it creeped me out. I never dabbled in witchcraft, but I certainly can forgive someone that has since become a committed Christian.
Rove is committing political suicide. No one respects a traitor and Rove is demonstrating his utter lack of judgement. How many Tea Party rallies is he ever going to attend? How many conservative conferences is he going to be invited to speak at now?
These squishy moderates have no core constituency because they lack core values, an ideology. Rove may have to look for a job on MSNBC now.
Isn’t it cute when Obama’s buttlickers in the media pretend to give a damn about a Republican’s ideas when that Republican is attacking a conservative?
Just makes me chuckle. Like they’re fooling someone.
If so, she should turn him into a frog. My opinion of him dropped like a brick this week.
I just don’t think he “gets it”...there are a lot of people who will vote for any candidate without a (D) after their name. Me included.
Rove: try attacking the democRAT for awhile.
The problem with Christine is she can't answer question about her past without sounding defensive and with a mild case of paranoia. Now she's ducking the media once again. Well, she had better have some simple explanations or people she needs to win in November will bail.
This incident is very troubling to me. I just don’t see how she could do that. How could she appear on a TV program with Bill Mahar? /s
Karl Rove is dead to me. I never liked him and he proves me right.
Also, ANY candidate that employs him is dead to me. He cannot be trusted.
When I was a boy, I once used a Ouija board with a friend. We asked it who was the bigger dope; the planchette slid violently back and forth between us, until it flew completely off the board. At that point, I doubted its veracity and lost interest.
Karl Rove-Democrat Light
Say, “Just like obama’s cocaine use. He says he doesn’t do it anymore and he got elected president. I don’t do witchcraft anymore. Which is a more serious offense?”
Agreed!
