Gillibrand talks directly to Lady Gaga about DADT (Don’t ask, don’t tell)

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) tweeted Monday afternoon that she had just spoken with Lady Gaga, who has been lobbying the Senate ahead of Tuesday’s vote on a defense authorization bill that includes a repeal provision for “Don’t ask, don’t tell” (DADT).

“[I] thanked her for her advocacy,” said Gillibrand. “I asked her to keep pushing for DADT repeal.”

Gaga had left a message with Gillibrand last week, prompting the senator to reach out on Twitter for another time to talk.

The Grammy Award-winning pop icon attended a rally in Portland, Maine, on Monday with veterans discharged by the DADT policy, which was implemented by President Clinton.

The outcome of Tuesday’s vote is unclear, as some Senate Republicans have threatened to filibuster. The two key votes will be cast by Maine Republican Sens. Susan Collins, who voted to repeal the policy in committee but wants Republican amendments allowed on the bill, and Olympia Snowe, who hasn’t said how she’ll vote.

One ditz speaking with another. Seriously, why the hell is any elected official, regardless of party, having policy discussions with half-wit like “Lady” Gag Gag?

I don’t understand how any Freeper could stand her, she has no talent, Madonna, say what you will, has 100 times more talent, all Gaga is about is shock value.

This should not surprise anyone. This thing got her start in the gay clubs, she feels a special obligation to gays as they ‘gave her her start’. She is admittedly bisexual anyway, so she is gay herself (when she decides she wants sex with women).

Why? She has no bloody talent. Also, she is a human trainwreck and not attractive in the least. She is proof that damn near anyone can become a pop star.

And nowadays the gays control the entire entertainment industry, so if you want a career, you had better play nice with them.

I don't think so. IIRC, she has a hubby and kids. IMHO, this is just pandering to that part of the rats' base.

I wish John mcCain would say something like...”I’ll tell you what, I won’t tell you how to make a video and you don’t tell me how to run the military.”

Personally I dont get the whole DADT thing. If they want the sign up I see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to.

We should be glad when anybody signs up for the military.

Look at WW2. I’m sure there were plenty of gay guys. 60,000+ stormed Omaha and Utah Beaches. The math will tell you at least a few hundred were gay.

Now, I can understand not wanting to change things in the middle of a shooting war. Or certain rules if youre in a unit in heavy combat or a special forces unit with close contact.

But, in general and at the right time I don’t see why the rules can’t be changed. Or at least experimented with. If they repeal DADT and all the bad things predicted happen, we can always reinstate it. At least give it a chance, see what happens.

That bitch knows nothing about the military, why is she advocating for gays in the military? Who speaks for the military?

No doubt, but they kept it to themselves, and didn't make an issue of it. It's a different world today, they are 'out and proud' now, and if you let open homosexuals in the military, they will do as they have done in the Catholic Church and create pockets of support where they look out for each other, and you'll never be able to root them out. They are like termites once they get positions of power in any organization.

I know. One of them might even end up as chairman of the RNC and in charge of the President’s re-election bid.

Look, I’m not saying we need to start having pride marches at Ft Bragg or Camp Pendleton.

I just think there’s probably a better way than DADT. Something like you can tell but you cant flaunt it or anything.

There is, go back to the way it was before, "If we find out, you're out." And yes the gays have infiltrated the GOP now as well.

I would talk to Lady Gaga, and I would say give me your dress so I can put it on my Grill.

That is what happened at my sons’ high school. Things went down hill fast from the oldest to the youngest. It started with a gay principal who only hired gays behind a crop of excellent retiring teachers.
