Although I don’t approve of the salaries, I am confused about the arrests.

Your police chief was offered a $450,000 position, and he took it (I’d probably do the same thing!).

While the amount is ridiculous, is it illegal in some way?

That’s a good question. If he didn’t have knowledge of any criminality taking place, the worst you could charge him with is greed. (IMO) I don’t think the penalties are too high for that these days, but in this political witch-hunt climate, who knows.

There is some question as to his actions in Glendale. Did he state that he was not going to work and receive a higher retirement than he should have? If he did, is that accepted practice?

He may be in a sticky wicket here. I won’t know until it plays out more.

Randy Adams (our former police chief) was not one of the individuals who were arrested today. The D.A. stated that it was not a crime to make a big salary, and no criminality could be found with regard to him.

The D. A. knew Adams personally. He was asked about this by a member of the press. He stated, “Yes I do know him, but if I had the evidence, I would have to arrest my own brother.”
