Republican Jeff Perry, a self-proclaimed Tea Party member, said he doesnt want former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to campaign for him because of the baggage she would bring, after dismissing the former vice presidential candidate as an entertainer in a TV interview.
I dont want to interject the debate over the national Tea Party with my race about my district, said Perry, seeking to replace U.S. Rep. William Delahunt. Im trying not to interject a national debate that would distract from my message.

People who don't know MA politics and MA voters have no clue. Sarah has some pretty strong negatives in that state. They see her as an entertainer - at best. Now with her daughter on a television program the negatives have intensified.
They used to call Rush “an entertainer” too. Haven’t heard it in years though.
I hold to the “If you can’t say anything nice......”
From the state that gave us John and Abigail Adams (among many, many other worthys).
So sad, you wonder what the hell happened to it over the years - how did it go from there to here?
Fear of the MSM turns Republicans into RINOs.
You may be right. There is almost no end to Romney’s treachery—or willingness to spend money on treachery.
Also, of course, in April Perry would have just been looking for traction in the primary.
“A stupid little man to insult a major Republican political figure when there was no reason at all to speak in those terms.”
How many votes does this little twit think he is gaining by insulting Palin. If he didn’t want her endorsement, he should have kept his yap shut. In speaking thus, he has alienated her supporters who are not a few. When Palin was in Boston she drew a crowd at midday during a weekday that was much bigger than the one Obama drew when he was up there campaigning for Martha Coakley. According to the Huffington Post, Palin drew a crowd of 5000 (which means it was likely twice that big)

So little Jeffie is so popular that he doesn’t need Palin’s thousands of supporters, doesn’t even want them? Yet he is proud to be photographed with Mr. RomneyCare himself.
With this little weenie running, it looks like Delahunt’s seat will remain safely in Dem hands.
No worries. She'll be gone by next week. ;o)
Jeff Perry is a Mittwit.

It's just extremely dumb to offend potential supporters for no reason. Sarah would have fewer supporters in Mass. than in most states, but she'd still have more than enough to swing the results in a close race.
The man is a solid conservative, they have already tried to smear him, he’s going to win!
“, and if distancing himself from her helps him, then I am fine with that. But you can distance yourself without insulting.”
I agree with that.
The Tall Guy w/ the gay running mate?
He said it on live TV, then the paper carried it.
The host asked the same question to a few other candidates earlier in the week, the host has a major issue with Sarah Palin.
Looks like Mitt’s man Jeff has some issues:
“The lobbyist issue hurts both parties, but Tea Party conservatives thought Perry was one of them. Now it looks like hes eager to party with the lobbyists in Washington.”
“Meanwhile, more Perry scandals have been reported and word continues to spread because he doesnt have any good excuses. Hell say he doesnt remember or that he was a victim, but playing the victim doesnt go over well with voters. They want leaders to take responsibility, not try to cover up.”
“So when Perry says he didnt realize there was something wrong with advertising he had a four-year college degree from a diploma mill that had no faculty or accreditation, voters are asking: Does he think were stupid?”
“And when its reported that Perry covered up for a friend who illegally strip-searched young teenage girls, and lied about the searches on his application for admission to the state bar, people are waking up.”
“Voters dont pay as much attention to politics during the summer, but Republicans are coming to realize that Perry would be unelectable in November. So the momentum is now with Perrys Republican primary opponent, Joe Malone.”

Pander? That assumes way too much about both Perry and the voters of his district.
It may not be widely supported here but the fact is that there are millions of patriotic, conservative and republican Americans who do not view Palin with the same abject worship as those who follow her every twitter.
Perry is, it seems, understanding of his district's sentiments and in line with them. That is not pandering, it is exactly that approach which a local representative should take. The opposite would be to presume to know better than the people what is right for them....you know, like the current adminstration does.
That would be terrific.
It’s not Palin worship to expect a conservative candidate to hold his tongue and not slander a fellow conservative. If he is a conservative, presumably he shares her values. So why the slur against her? It was unnecessary and as I said, at least some of the people voting for him LIKE Sarah Palin even if he does not.
I own a small business and I know people vote with their money. I would never be stupid enough to broadcast my dislike of Obama to my customers - assuming that at least some of them love him.
Politicians should learn from doctors, “First, do no harm.”
