FNC's Gutfeld Mocks 'Daily Show' Rally: 'This is What Passes for Rebellion in the Media' (Video)
Newsbusters ^ | September 22, 2010 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 09/22/2010 10:17:54 AM PDT by Rufus2007

While it seems like so many of Jon Stewart's adoring fans in the media are elated to see a counter-Tea Party, not many have been willing to call this event what it is - an event to belittle people who are exercising their rights as citizens to protest their government.

But Fox News Channel's Greg Gutfeld, the host of "Red Eye" took a stab at it on his Sept. 22 program. Unfortunately, it broadcasts on at 3 a.m. Eastern time (and still manages to beat CNN's prime time lineup in the ratings). In case you missed it, Gutfeld applauded the event as a gimmick, but questioned the sincerity of it as a true meaningful political rally.

"So last week Jon Stewart announced he was going to hold a rally of his own in Washington D.C., to restore reason, sanity or whatever," Gutfeld said. "[N]ow, it's a cute idea - not as good as a gay bar next to a mosque [something Gutfeld had proposed in response to the "Ground Zero Mosque"] - but it's an appropriate, hipster response to the tea parties and Glenn Beck's thing. It's exactly the thing that the bald nerdy guy in glasses from The New York Times subscription commercial might attend and feel totally good about himself afterward - which raises an interesting question: would Stewart have announced his event if those other events had a decidedly liberal tilt?"

Jon Stewart — harlequin hero of the “Death to America” media.

I’m busy ignoring Jon Stewart right now and cannot be reached for comment on something so stupid, mean, or vapid...and not even funny.

I saw that this morning. Funny.

Stewart wants to call his event: “A Million Moderate March”

Don’t you automatically forfeit the mantel of “moderate” if you march? Haven’t you just sided?

Or are they gonna carry signs saying: “Say No to Taxes...Maybe Not”

How about: “Taxes: Maybe Yes, Maybe No”

Or: “Stand With Us...Or Sit...Don’t Put Yourself Out”

“Wishy-Washy And Proud of It!”

“Maybe Tread on Me”

Worth repeating:

Think about it - what Stewart is doing is not speaking truth to power, but poking fun at the people who are speaking truth to power. I mean, Stewart isn't going after politicians or leaders - he's mocking people who are standing up to politicians and leaders." - Greg Gutfeld

Greg captures the essence of the issue in his term "Smugfest" for the Stewart/Colbert gathering, and in this quote:

I mean – Stewart isn’t going after politicians or leaders – he’s mocking people who are standing up to politicians and leaders.

Exactly. And I love Greg's show. I love it more when Imogen Lloyd-Webber and Juliet Huddy and S.E.Cupp are panelists, but still.

Most of Stewart’s audience will need money and/or permission from mommy and daddy to attend.

As a satirist, (barely), he is supposed to make fun of power, he loves ozero and can't do it. Making Americans the joke only passes for entertainment among his peers. Fade to irrelevance you worthless stinking pile of commie scat.

Hollywood = court jesters. Nothing more, nothing less.

If they are "moderate," maybe they will all just mill about aimlessly.

I’ve had a couple (3 actually) surgeries this year and spent a lot of late night time on the sofa watching TV. Greg Gutfeld is hilarious and Red Eye is a great show.

The "Million Man Mill-About" while they mull over what to do.

It can be the Mill-Mull at the Mall.

Love Greg, but Red Eye has become so full of liberals since their ratings starting going up, it sometimes is hard to watch.

Especially since Andy decided to start lecturing us on illegals and “gay” rights.

Just seeing some of his tweets are telling, he loves mocking conservatives and religious people to all his leftwing “journalist” friends.

Well said, ”… Hollywood = court jesters. Nothing more, nothing less…

There is a very long list of jesters which can be found at: http://www.boycottliberalism.com/Dishonorable-mention.htm

With the likes of Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Al Franken, David Letterman…

While they attempt to entertain trying to establish pop-culture as credible, are just cheap versions of Johnny Carson…even Letterman is a shadow of himself. Stooping to a level of absurd attempting to validate lack of knowledge, illogical thinking, poor education, deconstructed history, Political Corruption, practices of Marxism/Leninism, Leftwing follies, and if it feels good just do it… We can guess the left would require or have a need to keep a dumb-down audience to maintain spectators or a following.

I don’t get it - I thought it was ed schultz that started this thingee. How did stewart & colbert get involved in this? And, why is it now stewart’s project? I don’t think they’ll get anywhere near Glenn Beck’s 8/28. Especially, if they have to put out their own money.
