The unofficial guide to installing iTunes 10 without bloatware
ZDNet ^ | September 9, 2010 | Ed Bott

One of the most popular posts I wrote in 2008 was a set of step-by-step instructions to help you do what Apple doesn’t want you to do with iTunes for Windows (see Slimming down the bloated iTunes installer). Now that iTunes 10 has been released, it’s apparent that nothing has changed in Cupertino. Apple still gives its customers a monolithic iTunes setup program with absolutely no options to pick and choose based on your specific needs.

iTunes is hideous, but if you have an iPhone you (for the most part) need it. But I use MediaMonkey to sync audio, and iTunes only to sync apps.

I'll have my daughter read this and see what she can make of it. She hates iTunes as well, but I need her help in getting songs from my Windows Music files uploaded to iTunes. I had done it before, but when I got to iTunes now, and click on the link to transfer music, nothing seems to happen. I have a boatload of Christmas music I want on my iPod Nano, and it needs to be in iTunes before I can do it.

I had created a bunch of playlists, and had transferred them from Windows Media to iTunes, then onto the iPod, a year or two ago, but when I go to iTunes now, I can't find ANY of my playlists! It's extremely annoying.
